AMC Announces ‘The Vampire Lestat: After Dark’ Companion Series

If there’s one thing we’re learning from the press surrounding The Vampire Lestat, it’s that Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) is not about to let anyone misunderstand his story. Not the music, not the chaos, not the relationships, and definitely not the emotional devastation. And to help with that, AMC has officially announced The Vampire Lestat: After Dark, a brand-new half-hour companion series designed to take fans deeper into the world of the Brat Prince.

Hosted by writer, producer, and podcast host Lizzie Bassett, the series will air alongside the upcoming season and promises weekly behind-the-scenes conversations, cast interviews, production insights, and expanded discussions about the show’s mythology, themes, and character dynamics. To be honest, we’re grateful for this show because when your immortal rockstar protagonist has centuries of trauma, complicated love stories, morally questionable behavior, and enough lore to fill several crypts, a companion series isn’t just bonus content, it’s required viewing.

Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe has always existed in morally messy territory, particularly when it comes to desire, power, intimacy, grief, and identity. The TV adaptation has leaned fully into those themes from the beginning, allowing these characters’ relationships to feel passionate, toxic, tender, romantic, and devastating all at once. A companion series like After Dark creates space to unpack those layers in a more direct way while also giving fans insight into the creative process behind adapting such emotionally complicated material for television.

According to AMC, After Dark will feature interviews with cast members, including Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, and Delainey Hayles, alongside executive producers Mark Johnson and Rolin Jones. A special preview episode will debut on May 24 on AMC+ ahead of the full launch on June 7, the same day the series premieres. Episodes will then roll out weekly on Sundays through AMC+ before becoming available the following day on podcast platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and YouTube.

The preview episode will feature Reid, Anderson, Zaman, Hayles, Bogosian, Jones, and Johnson teasing what’s ahead this season while sharing behind-the-scenes stories from production. Which, knowing this cast, probably means equal parts emotional insight, unhinged vampire energy, and at least one moment that sends the fandom spiraling for several days.

“We’re thrilled to introduce this must-watch companion show for The Vampire Lestat, a series that has truly captivated a loyal and passionate fan base,” said Ben Davis, EVP of scripted programming for AMC Global Media. “After Dark is designed to enrich the viewing experience, with a deep dive into the lore of the show and behind-the-scenes insights from the cast and producers that pull back the curtain on the stories, characters, and moments that define this upcoming season.”

Interview With the Vampire, now titled The Vampire Lestat, has always been a show that invites analysis. Fans want to dissect every glance, every lyric, every toxic romantic declaration, every existential monologue, and every beautifully emotional breakdown these vampires experience. So, having an official space to do exactly that while hearing directly from the people bringing this gothic universe to life feels like the right call.

And really, if Lestat is going to drag us all into his latest era, the least he can do is provide a study guide—or at least a place where we can collectively process all the emotional damage that comes with it.

The Vampire Lestat will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on Sunday, June 7 at 9 pm ET/PT. Seasons 1 and 2 of Interview With the Vampire are available to stream on AMC+ (US only), Netflix, and Prime Video (depending on the region). Follow us on X and Instagram for all queer stuff!
