The Vampire Lestat Trailer Is Here: Beautiful Unwell, Our Time Has Come

Beautiful unwell… It’s finally happening. TheThe Vampire Lestat trailer has arrived, and we’re still picking our jaws up off the floor. After weeks (okay, months) of teasers and previously released clips, we went in thinking we had a pretty solid idea of what to expect from this new season, but this trailer said absolutely not. Instead, AMC delivered a first look packed with mostly unseen footage, and honestly? Nothing could have prepared us for the sheer chaos, drama, and rockstar energy they unleashed.

Right away, the trailer makes one thing crystal clear: this is Lestat’s (Sam Reid) story now. Seasons one and two gave us Louis’ (Jacob Anderson) perspective: his pain, his love, his version of events. But season three? This is Lestat grabbing the narrative by the throat and saying, “We’re doing a rewrite.” And he means that quite literally. Set against a full-blown rock and roll backdrop, we watch him step into his new era as a global superstar, determined to tell his truth on the loudest stage possible. “I am the Vampire Lestat. It’s my era,” he declares, and the show wastes no time proving him right.

Through Daniel’s (Eric Bogosian) voice-over, we’re reminded of Lestat’s 265-year existence—his witness to history, from the French Revolution to the atomic bomb—before we’re launched into a dizzying sequence of past and present. We see him backstage, on stage, and everywhere in between, fully embracing the spectacle of his new life. A pulsing cover of Billy Idol’s Dancing with Myself underscores flashes of his past: a dirt-covered, broken Lestat awakening, hints at his transformation, and moments that feel deeply tied to his origin story. But this isn’t just about who he was; it’s about how he’s reclaiming that narrative. From marking “LIES” all over the Interview with the Vampire in-universe book to openly challenging the version of events we thought we knew, Lestat is rewriting himself in real time.

At the same time, the The Vampire Lestat trailer leans hard into the emotional and existential weight behind the glam. We see him unraveling backstage, caught in a haze of excess, only to land on a chilling realization: “I’m immortal.” There’s tension everywhere… Armand (Assad Zaman) warning Daniel that Lestat will “get us all killed,” Louis looking thoroughly unimpressed as Lestat flaunts the book Daniel released, and glimpses of a vampire world that seems ready to turn against him. And yes, the show is fully embracing the messy, complicated, and undeniably toxic dynamics at the heart of it all, from intimate moments with Louis to that blink-and-you-miss-it (but we definitely didn’t) kiss with Gabriella (Jennifer Ehle).

Yes, it seems that the show isn’t shying away from any part of Lestat’s story. It’s bold, it’s chaotic, and it’s so very Lestat.

By the time we reach the final stretch—explosions, blood, concerts, confrontations, and Lestat declaring himself not just a vampire, but a god—we’re completely gone. The closing title sequence, cycling through different fonts and aesthetics for his name, feels like the perfect visual metaphor: Lestat refuses to be defined, confined, or reduced. His music, his identity, his story… it all contains multitudes. And we’re so ready to witness every single one of them.

Watch the The Vampire Lestat trailer below and experience the chaos for yourselves:

If you’ve been following along with us, you know this era has already started taking over our playlists. As we’ve shared before, AMC partnered with Lakeshore Records to release two original songs from the upcoming season: Long Face and All Fall Down, performed by Reid and composed by Daniel Hart. These tracks are just the beginning, with more music set to drop alongside the series, fully embracing Lestat’s rockstar era in and out of the show.

So tell us… how unwell are we feeling right now? Because after watching this The Vampire Lestat trailer, we’re not just unwell, we’re completely undone.

The Vampire Lestat will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on Sunday, June 7. Seasons 1 and 2 of Interview With the Vampire are available to stream on AMC+ (US only), Netflix, and Prime Video (depending on the region). Follow us on X and Instagram for all queer stuff!
