The Vampire Lestat Renewed for Season 4 as Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned
The wait is over, Beautiful Unwell, and our favorite rockstar vampire isn’t taking his final bow just yet. AMC Global Media announced during the series’ San Diego Comic-Con Hall H panel that Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire has been renewed for a fourth season, while also revealing the show’s next evolution. Following The Vampire Lestat, the next chapter will be titled Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned, adapting one of the most iconic entries in Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles.
If there was ever any doubt that AMC intended to continue adapting Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles beyond The Vampire Lestat, today’s announcement puts it to rest in the best possible way.
We have all been manifesting another season for months, and after everything The Vampire Lestat accomplished creatively, a renewal felt inevitable. The only real mystery was what the next chapter would be called. Now we have our answer, and it’s the announcement Anne Rice readers have been waiting years to hear.
Just as the third season reintroduced the series under the title The Vampire Lestat, the newly announced fourth season will continue that evolving approach by becoming Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned. Rather than treating every installment under a single banner, the adaptation continues embracing each novel as its own era while telling one continuous story—an ambitious approach that has become one of the defining strengths of AMC’s Immortal Universe.
The newly announced season will also mark a creative transition behind the scenes. Hannah Moscovitch will take over as showrunner for Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned while continuing as an executive producer alongside Mark Johnson and Rolin Jones. Having been a key creative voice throughout The Vampire Lestat, Moscovitch is a natural choice to lead the series into its next era as it brings one of Anne Rice’s most beloved stories to life. The announcement also marks the first time the series will move forward under a new showrunner, with Jones remaining on board as an executive producer.
According to AMC, the new season will follow our established and beloved characters as they confront Akasha, with both their world—and ours—hanging in the balance. While additional story details have yet to be revealed, the announcement confirms that one of the Vampire Chronicles’ most anticipated chapters is officially on its way.
The announcement was made during The Vampire Lestat‘s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, featuring executive producers Mark Johnson and Hannah Moscovitch alongside cast members Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, and Sheila Atim. The renewal closely follows Sunday’s Season 3 finale, with The Vampire Lestat currently ranking among the highest-rated television series of the year on Rotten Tomatoes.
