David Hernandez Gets Real with New Single ‘Feel It All’

We all go through things in life…the good, the bad, and everything in between. How we cope with those moments is deeply personal. Some people write books, others paint canvases, and some, like former American Idol finalist David Hernandez, pour their heart into music. His brand-new single, Feel It All, is exactly that: a raw, soulful anthem about recovery, sobriety, and redemption.

Originally written as a private outlet, the song wasn’t meant for anyone’s ears but David’s. But after some encouragement from close friends, he realized his story could do more than heal himself; it could inspire others, especially within the LGBTQ+ community. That vulnerability is what makes Feel It All David Hernandez at his most powerful.

Alongside the single’s release, Hernandez dropped an emotional music video that takes us through the ups and downs of addiction. Co-directed by Hernandez and longtime collaborator Johny De, the video began as a straightforward shoot but grew into something much bigger. After conversations with trusted friend John Duran (Studio One Forever) and his publicist Len Evans, Hernandez decided to bring in members of the recovery community.

The final result is a striking recovery circle—real people, from all walks of life, including prominent queer voices—gathered together in a safe space to share raw emotion. Through vivid imagery and layered symbolism, the video captures both the ache of losing oneself and the fierce beauty of clawing a way back. It’s a reminder that no one’s battle is identical, but the shared journey of healing connects us all.

Talking to John Stein of Project Publicity, Hernandez reflected, “It became a reflection of shared healing. People showed up in ways I couldn’t have imagined. It wasn’t just about me; it was about us.”

Co-director Johny De, who has collaborated with Hernandez before on Vices and I AM, brought his expertise as a dancer, choreographer, and creative director to the table. Hernandez credits him with shaping the video into something layered and alive: “His eye, energy, and trust in the process made this project feel like something truly special.”

At its core, both the song and the video serve as a reminder that feelings, no matter how painful, can’t be avoided. Hernandez puts it bluntly: “Sobriety stripped away my escape routes. It forced me to sit with myself and feel everything. That’s how this song was born.”

Recovery is never easy, nor is it linear. It’s messy, complicated, and deeply personal. For Hernandez, music became a way to find himself again. With Feel It All, he hopes others can find some of that same strength: “Addiction thrives in isolation, but connection is the antidote. I hope this song and video help someone feel less alone, less afraid to speak up. That’s the real purpose of art.”

So don’t hold back—Feel It All is out now. Head to your favorite streaming platform, listen, and, well, feel it all.
