The Twinless Trailer Promises a Tender, Twisty Fall Drama—Watch It Here

Ahead of its theatrical release on September 5, Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate have unveiled the official Twinless trailer, and if it hasn’t been on your radar yet, now’s the time to fix that.

The film stars Dylan O’Brien and James Sweeney as two young men who meet in a twin support group and form an unlikely friendship. Roman (O’Brien) and Dennis (Sweeney) are both trying to navigate life without their other halves, and the bond they forge outside the group quickly becomes intense. But as the trailer teases, when Roman crosses paths with Dennis’ vivacious co-worker Marcie (Aisling Franciosi), the story takes a turn, and not everything is as it seems. Each man is holding onto something, and those secrets may change everything.

That’s the official synopsis, and trust us, it’s all you really need to know going in.

We’ve seen Twinless, and it’s one of those rare, emotionally layered films that’s best experienced with as little context as possible. The Twinless trailer gives you just enough to get hooked: a quiet intimacy, an evolving friendship, and the kind of chemistry that invites a lot of questions. It doesn’t give the game away, and that’s entirely the point.

James Sweeney, who both wrote and directed the film, proves once again that he knows how to explore queerness, grief, and connection with heart, humor, and nuance. While the trailer doesn’t spell out any LGBTQ+ themes, let’s just say they’re very much present, and very thoughtfully handled.

The cast also includes Aisling Franciosi (Speak No Evil), Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls), Tasha Smith (Survival of the Thickest), Chris Perfetti (Abbott Elementary), François Arnaud (Blindspot), Susan Park (Snowpiercer), and Cree Cicchino (And Just Like That…). The film is produced by David Permut and James Sweeney, with Dylan O’Brien, Miky Lee, Ali Jazayeri, David Gendron, and Liz Destro executive producing. Alex Astrachan joins as co-producer.

We’re already planning our trip to the theater. Until then, check out the Twinless trailer below. Just be warned: this one gets under your skin, in the best way.
