It’s official, a Red, White & Royal Blue sequel is in the works!

This is not a drill. We repeat this is not a drill! We’ve got some exciting news to share with y’all: a Red, White & Royal Blue sequel is in the works! Yes, a sequel to the hit romantic comedy is officially in development at Amazon MGM Studios!

We’re all on the edge of our seats with excitement right now, but let’s pause for a moment because details are still somewhat scarce. However, we can confirm that author Casey McQuiston, the genius behind the heartwarming novel on which the film is based, will be teaming up with the film’s screenwriter and director, Matthew Lopez, to craft the script for this highly anticipated sequel.

And that’s not all—the talented Taylor Zakhar-Perez and Nicholas Galitzine will be reprising their roles as Alex Claremont-Diaz and Prince Henry of England, respectively. We seriously can’t wait to see their on-screen chemistry ignite once again. We just know they’ll bring us on another rollercoaster of emotions, just like they did in the first film.

For those who haven’t experienced the magic of Red White & Royal Blue yet (seriously, have you been living under a rock?), let us catch you up! The story revolves around Alex Claremont-Diaz (Zakhar-Perez), the First Son of the United States, and Prince Henry of England (Galitzine), who initially share a tense relationship. However, after a diplomatic mishap forces them to fake a friendship for the public eye, their dynamic begins to shift.

What starts as a fake friendship soon blossoms into a genuine connection as they navigate the complexities of their roles and identities. As Alex and Henry spend more time together, their bond deepens, leading to a rollercoaster of emotions, witty banter, and unexpected feelings. The film beautifully explores themes of self-discovery, acceptance, and the power of love to transcend boundaries. It’s a captivating journey filled with humor, heart, and a touch of royal charm, making it a fan favorite.

For the Red White & Royal Blue sequel, the return of Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter from Berlanti Schechter Films as producers, alongside Michael McGrath, López, and McQuiston, promises a continuation of the high-quality storytelling and heartfelt moments that made the first film so memorable.

While plot details are still under wraps (the suspense!), we’re eagerly awaiting more news and a tentative release date. In the meantime, let’s keep the excitement alive by revisiting the first film. Because what better way to celebrate this historic announcement than by immersing ourselves once again in the magic and love of Red White & Royal Blue, right?
