Heartstopper: renewed for two more seasons!

Can you hear us screaming? Heartstopper, Netflix’s new global queer sensation, has been renewed for two more seasons! Yes, you heard that right folks, TWO MORE SEASONS!

Ever since the show first dropped on the streaming platform, we here at Q+ have been talking about it non-stop, highlighting its importance in terms of representation, especially for the youth in our community. And we’re not the only ones, queer folks of all ages and walks of life have praised the show as well for its innocent and yet realistic portrayal of young love.

Heartstopper has been the TV show that in the last month has managed to unite the queer community as we have never seen before, so today we’re happy to share with y’all that we will have this fantastic story for two more seasons.

Multi-season renewals are not common on Netflix, the streamer isn’t known for trusting their own content, so this just means that the See-Saw Films production ticked all the boxes for the streaming platform and we couldn’t be happier about it.

Heartstopper, inspired by series creator Alice Oseman’s web-comic and graphic novel of the same name, has ranked on Netflix’s top 10 list in 54 countries, and earned a very rare 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, and an equally impressive 98 percent from viewers, making it one of Netflix’s most successful shows to date.

Details of the upcoming seasons have yet to be revealed, but the cast consisting of Joe Locke (Charlie), Kit Connor (Nick), Yasmin Finney (Elle), Corinna Brown (Tara), William Gao (Tao), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), Sebastian Croft (Ben), and Jenny Walser (Tori) are all expected to return to reprise their roles.

Creator Alice Oseman has been confirmed to return as a writer for seasons 2 and 3. And while there’s no official word on that, if you’ve read the source material, you can expect the upcoming seasons to be based on Volumes 3 and 4, and the yet-to-be-published Volume 5 of the graphic novel.

We invite you to keep an eye on this space for more news and information about Heartstopper. But for now, let’s celebrate this amazing news by rewatching the show over and over again.
