Lestat Rocked Manhattan Ahead of ‘The Vampire Lestat’ Premiere

Last night, the vampiric activity in Manhattan was a little busier than usual, or so agents of the Talamasca report.

The occasion? Lestat’s One Night Only concert, which took over the iconic Beacon Theatre and transformed the nearly 3,000-capacity venue into the epicenter of the Immortal Universe for an evening that served as both a celebration and the official season premiere of The Vampire Lestat.

The event brought together much of the cast, creative team, and VIPs for a pink carpet that was packed with familiar faces. Among those in attendance were frontman and Lestat’s human vessel Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson, Delainey Hayles, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Jennifer Ehle, Justin Kirk, Sheila Atim, Noah Reid, Ryan Kattner, Seamus Patterson, Damien Atkins, Chris Geary, Christopher Heyerdahl, Ella Ballentine, Jeanine Serralles, Damon Daunno, and Gopal Divan. They were joined by series composer Daniel Hart, executive producers Hannah Moscovitch, Mark Johnson, and Rolin Jones, as well as Dan McDermott, President of AMC Entertainment & AMC Studios.

But perhaps the most important guests of the night were the thousands of Beautiful Unwell who filled the theater and helped turn the evening into exactly the kind of spectacle The Vampire Lestat has been promising since the moment the first teaser dropped.

The Manhattan event featured an advanced screening of the season premiere, followed by a special concert performance from Lestat himself. And yes, we do mean Lestat.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the show’s rollout has been AMC’s commitment to treating Lestat de Lioncourt as a real artist rather than a fictional character promoting a television series. Every promo, music release, and social media post has reinforced that illusion, and by all accounts, last night was no exception. When the concert began, it wasn’t Sam Reid who took the stage. It was Lestat—the hair, the eyes, the clothes, the scars, the attitude… the whole thing.

The audience was treated to live performances of already released tracks, including Long Face, Your Biggest Fan, and Butterscotch Bitch, alongside unreleased songs such as Big Bad Wolf, The Loneliness, and Brutal Love. Judging by the reactions from those lucky enough to be inside the venue—as well as the clips that immediately began circulating online—the response was exactly what you’d expect from a crowd that has spent months waiting for their favorite vampire rockstar to finally step into the spotlight.

We’ve been praising Sam Reid and Daniel Hart at every opportunity, and events like this only reinforce why. As we wrote in our review of The Vampire Lestat, Hart has crafted songs that genuinely feel as though they could only have come from the mind of Lestat de Lioncourt himself. They are theatrical, emotional, self-destructive, seductive, grandiose, and occasionally a little ridiculous in exactly the way Lestat should be. Reid, meanwhile, gives those songs the voice they deserve, bringing a level of commitment that turns what could have been a fun gimmick into something that feels startlingly real.

If y’all think that hearing these songs live was an experience, seeing them in the context of the series may very well be the experience. Because as much as the music works on its own—and we already know that from the songs currently available on streaming platforms—these tracks were designed to become part of the emotional architecture of the season itself. And believe us, y’all are not prepared for what’s coming your way.

Not to spoil anything here, but between the performances we’ve already heard and the songs that are still waiting in the wings, The Vampire Lestat may have in its hands the rare television soundtrack that will genuinely threaten to take over everyone’s Spotify Wrapped. Mark our words.

And with only a few days left until the premiere, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: The Vampire Lestat isn’t simply returning for another season. It’s arriving as a full-blown cultural event. The concert may be over, the pink carpet may have been rolled away, and the Beautiful Unwell may have returned home, but this is only the beginning. The Vampire Lestat officially rises in just a few days, so we’re about to be hearing his name everywhere.

EDIT: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that The Vampire Lestat: One Night Only took place in Brooklyn. The event was held at the Beacon Theatre in Manhattan. The article has been updated to reflect this correction. Our apologies to New Yorkers everywhere—we’re clearly not natives to the Concrete Jungle.

The Vampire Lestat will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on Sunday, June 7 at 9 pm ET/PT. Seasons 1 and 2 of Interview With the Vampire are available to stream on AMC+ (US and Spain only), Netflix, and Prime Video (depending on the region). Follow us on X and Instagram for all queer stuff!
