Heartstopper Season 3: New Casting Announcement

The rumor mill regarding potential additions to the cast for season 3 of Netflix’s smash sensation Heartstopper has been buzzing for quite some time now. Q Plus Magazine recently reported that Fellow Travelers star, Jonathan Bailey is slated to join the cast in the upcoming season. However, we’ve all been sitting on our hands waiting for Netflix to confirm or deny the rumors. Well, fam, the day is here! Netflix has finally released a new casting announcement for Heartstopper Season 3, and it’s everything we’ve been waiting for.

Jonathan Bailey is, in fact, joining the cast as Jack Maddox, a celebrity crush of Charlie’s (Joe Locke). Bailey is joined by Back to Black’s Eddie Marsen and Hayley Atwell, who starred in Captain America: The First Avenger.

With regard to the new casting announcement, Heartstopper creator and writer of the Netflix adaptation, Alice Oseman, said, “I am incredibly excited to be welcoming three new cast members to the Heartstopper family. Hayley Atwell joins the Nelson family as Nick’s Aunt Diane, who takes Nick on a summer holiday to Menorca and has some tough advice to impart about his relationship.

“Eddie Marsan will be portraying a beloved character from the graphic novels: Geoff, Charlie’s wise and straight-talking therapist. And lastly, Jonathan Bailey will be making a cameo appearance as Jack Maddox, an Instagram-famous classicist and celebrity crush of Charlie. It was an absolute joy to see Hayley, Eddie, and Jonathan’s talent alongside our existing cast, and I can’t wait for the Heartstopper fans to meet these new characters.”

The departure of Olivia Colman, who plays Nick’s (Kit Connor) mom on the show, was a massive blow to the Heartstopper universe and its fans. However, this new casting announcement makes up for it just a bit!

The highly anticipated upcoming season looks to be an absolute banger. According to Netflix, “Charlie would like to tell Nick that he loves him. Nick also has something important to say to Charlie. As the summer holiday ends and the months race on, the friends begin to realize that the school year will come with both its joys and its challenges. As they learn more about each other and their relationships, plan social events and parties, and start thinking about university choices, everyone must learn to lean on those they love when life doesn’t go to plan.”
