Mean Girls: Get In Loser, We’re Going To The Movies

Get in loser, we’re going to the movies, Mean Girls is nearly here! Based on the Broadway musical of the same name, the new Mean Girls movie trailer has dropped. Written by Tina Fey and directed by Arturo Perez Jr. and Samantha Jayne, this upcoming feature film, slated to drop in 2024, is a hot ticket to watch out for.

New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika). However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs.

As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.

Rumors have been flying on TikTok that this time around, the character of Regina will take a walk down the rainbow road once and for all. Although not entirely confirmed right now, the word on the street is definitely that this time around Mean Girls is going gay! We are waiting with bated breath to find out. Get in loser, we’re definitely going to the movies!

The film also features the likes of several out queer actors as well. Reneé Rapp was just nineteen years old when she landed the role of Regina for the Broadway musical. Openly queer herself, Rapp has since gone on to play a lesbian character in Sex Lives of College Girls as well. She has released several critically acclaimed music projects too.

Auli’i Cravalho got her break in Disney’s Moana and landed a role in Hulu’s queer teen sensation Crush. The film also features Jaquel Spivey as Damian, an iconic gay character who broke ground in the early 2000s.

Mean Girls is scheduled for release in cinemas on January 12, 2024. Follow us on X and Instagram for all queer stuff!
