Young Royals S3 EP5: Showcasing The Episode’s Greatest Moments
We know, Young Royals S3 Ep5 is a rough episode. It’s full of pain and angst and we’ve already endured two whole seasons of that so far. However, there are things we loved about this episode as well. Several characters in this episode show immense growth and great maturity. People make very hard decisions in the face of adversity. And the answer to the question we’ve all been asking for the entire duration of this show seems to rear its head: is Wilmon endgame?

Despite the tension, despite the drama, there are beautiful moments in Young Royals S3 Ep5 that are worth celebrating. Hear us out and journey with us as we dive into this epic episode.
The Music Room Fight
To be clear, it’s not the fight between Wilhelm and Simon that occurs in this episode that we love, but the fact that they’re at it again in the music room! We are definitely not here for the way in which Wilhelm assumes that Simon will judge his brother. Or the way Wilhelm clearly takes his frustrations over Erik’s (Ivar Forsling) involvement in all the initiation business out on Simon, but we just couldn’t help but laugh that it happens in the music room.
That room is a cursed space for them. From the very onset of their relationship, it’s been the setting for so many of their massive arguments. It’s completely on brand that as Young Royals S3 Ep5 hurtles forward, our beloved Wilhelm and Simon find themselves at odds again in this room.
Poor Simon, though, right? He’s trying to be a supportive boyfriend and Wilhelm really gives it to him in this scene. For us, the music room symbolizes their stark differences. When they’re in this space fighting, their backgrounds, different upbringings, and the way they look at the world are always this big, giant thing that stands between them. And at this point in the series, with only one more episode left, the question needs to be raised: is Wilmon just too different to really be endgame?
Sara and Simon Make Up
In Young Royals S3 Ep5 after seeing her Dad out drinking, Sara (Frida Argento) runs home to Simon and her mom, crying and apologizing all over again for all the trouble she has caused Simon. It’s no secret we’re not huge fans of Sara, but we were really happy with how they cleaned up her storyline this season. And we’re happy to see her and Simon make up.
Simon is happier when they’re united, and fighting with her has been breaking him a little. More importantly, Sara has really grown as a character this season. She understands that she did something terrible, but she looks at herself, reflects deeply, and does what she can to be a better person. She stays away from things that she wants (August) (Malte Gardginer) because she knows they’re not good for her, and we stan a queen that does hard things because when they’re the right thing to do.
August Dumped For Dinner
It’s preposterous that Wilhelm’s parents continue to expect him to be civil to, and socialize with, August. It’s almost unbelievable that he was invited to celebrate Wilhelm’s birthday with the family at the palace. So, at the PR event prior to the formal dinner, when Wilhelm refuses to go to the palace if August goes with them, we clapped and cheered.
The trauma August inflicted on Wilhelm is no small thing, and his neglectful parents haven’t taken it seriously at all. It’s disappointing to see them put their reputation before their child’s wellbeing, but that definitely seems to be a recurring theme for the royal family in this season.
Save face first, Wilhelm’s mental health second.
The sheer disappointment that washes over August’s face when he realizes that he’s been dumped from the dinner invitation is gold. We are not vengeful people, but this is everything that August deserves!
Love Shouldn’t Be This Hard
Hear us out! We are Wilmon Endgame truthers around here, but in Young Royals S3 Ep5 where Simon tells Wilhem that they can’t be together anymore, a good thing actually occurs.
No fam, we’re not happy to see them apart again, and we’re definitely not happy to see them hurting, but the truth is, they’ve been hurting each other for the entire season just trying to be together. Simon has completely lost himself in the palace’s demands for compliance, and Wilhelm has a lot to work out with his family and his mental health before he can really be something for someone else.
In this scene, Simon shows incredible maturity as he looks at Wilhelm and realizes that it doesn’t matter how much he loves the guy, the situation isn’t serving either of them, and that’s just not healthy. So many people stay in broken situations because of love, and we’re so proud that Simon puts himself first and walks away before they ruin each other.
Was it painful? Yes. Did it hurt to watch? A huh. Did we cry our eyeballs out? We sure did. But, was it necessary? You know it was.
Now we wait with bated breath for the final installment of our beloved show to drop. Will Wilhelm and Simon get their happily ever after, or will fans be left to pick up the pieces of a broken heart?
