Love, Victor Season 3 First Look and Release Details
Hulu has revealed the first photos from Love, Victor Season 3 and you know us folks, here at Q+, we have all the details!
For those who don’t know Love, Victor takes place after the events of the 2018 film Love, Simon, and focuses on a new student at Creekwood High School named Victor (Michael Cimino). The series follows Victor’s journey of self-discovery and growth, as he navigates the complicated waters of being a teenager in high school. Although very different from Simon’s journey (played by Nick Robinson), Victor’s is similar in the way that both boys struggled with their sexuality at some point and were faced with all the implications that coming out at such an age entailed.
At the end of season two and after battling with his feelings for many, many episodes, Victor makes a choice between Benji (George Sear) or Rahim (Anthony Keyvan) (his two love interests), and goes to one of their houses and rings the doorbell. But we never learn who’s behind the door. Is it Benji, or is it Rahim?
But fear not, the answer to that question may be closer than we expected. Just a few days ago it was announced that Love, Victor’s final season will premiere on Wednesday, June 15 with all eight episodes being released at the same AND on both Hulu and Disney+. Yep, you heard that right, Love, Victor is heading to Disney+.
From Hulu to Disney+
Love, Victor was originally developed for Disney+ but was moved to Hulu after Disney worried that some of the themes explored in the show, such as alcohol use and teen sexuality, might not belong on the family-friendly streamer platform. *rolls eyes* But now things have changed, and the streaming giant has decided that mayhaps they do want Love, Victor on their platform after all.
Joe Earley, president of Hulu (owned by Disney), said “We are proud of Love, Victor and are excited to bring it to the widest possible audience on June 15 by making the full series available on both Disney+ and Hulu to celebrate the final season and LGBTQIA+ Pride Month,”
“In addition to highlighting this groundbreaking series, this will give subscribers a chance to sample more content that is available across our streaming services as we have done with titles like the Academy Award-winning ‘Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised),’ ‘Man in the Arena: Tom Brady’ and ‘Black-ish.’” He added.
“When we think about creating stories that reflect the world we live in, which means being inclusive, empowering, and authentic, Love, Victor represents one of our greatest achievements,” said Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment.
“Distributing the show on both platforms will allow us the opportunity to bring Victor’s stories as well as his family and friends’ journeys that have been so beautifully told by our executive producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger and our show-runner Brian Tanen to as wide of an audience as possible.”
