Young Royals Season 3: Interview with Lisa Ambjörn

In preparation for the release of Young Royals Season 3, Q+ Magazine staffers were granted the opportunity to sit down with the show’s creator, Lisa Ambjörn, to talk all things Young Royals for one final time. We logged onto Zoom with a bucket full of questions ready to fire at the wonderful woman, but like always with these things, there just wasn’t enough time to get through them all.

Lisa Ambjörn talks passionately about her decisions regarding the season 3 story arc. She makes it clear that this season’s trajectory was well thought out and her team considered every possible scenario for Simon (Omar Rudberg) and Wilhelm’s (Edvin Ryding) journey.

With a warm and radiant smile plastered on her face, she discusses the challenges she faced while making Young Royals over the past few years and gushes about all the things she’s proud of now that it’s over and the final episode is now available for everyone to watch.

She has some parting words for the fandom as well and drops some comments about her experiences dealing with fandom for the first time as a creator.

If you’re still reading this, we’re pretty sure that you’ve finished season 3 of Young Royals by now, and that you’re probably having some feelings about it all. The ending is hopeful and joyful, which sits in stark juxtaposition with the rest of the series. Chatting with Lisa Ambjorn about this creative decision felt like the most appropriate way to round off our coverage of this beloved show because, without Lisa, there would be no Wilhelm and Simon.

So settle in and journey with us as we dive into the mind of the talented creator of the Young Royals series as we bid farewell to this enigmatic universe.
