Hoist the Sails! Our Flag Means Death Season 2 Sets Sail on Max This October!

After hearing almost no word on the future of the highly popular Max original comedy series, today we can officially confirm that our beloved pirate show will return to our screens with eight brand new episodes starting October 5.

And that’s not all! The premiere will be an extravaganza as it kicks off with three episodes. Yes, you read that right, folks, three! But the excitement doesn’t stop there – y’all can look forward to two new episodes every week, leading up to an epic season finale on Thursday, October 26.

Created by David Jenkins, Our Flag Means Death is loosely based on the real-life adventures of the 18th-century would-be pirate, Stede Bonnet, portrayed brilliantly by the talented Rhys Darby. Once a refined and courteous man, Stede makes the bold decision to exchange his life of luxury for the adventurous world of a daring pirate. Taking the reins as the captain of the pirate ship Revenge, he faces the daunting task of winning the respect of his potentially mutinous crew of misfits.

However, Stede’s destiny takes an unexpected turn following an encounter with the notorious Captain Blackbeard, brought to life by the Emmy-nominated executive producer and star, Taika Waititi. Astonishingly, the vastly different Stede and Blackbeard (also known as just Ed) discover more than just camaraderie in the vast ocean – they find love. But sadly, as the first season finale revealed, love’s course did not run smoothly for these two, leading to the pair’s falling out.

But it seems that in this new season, love will get a second chance. If the teaser trailer is anything to go by, we can expect to witness the evolving dynamics between Stede and Ed, as this new installment of the series explores their complex relationship in greater depth. Can love conquer all, even amidst the chaos of the high seas and the challenges of pirate life?

In addition to Darby and Waititi, Season 2 of Our Flag Means Death boasts a stellar ensemble cast, featuring beloved returning actors such as Samson Kayo, Vico Ortiz, Ewen Bremner, Joel Fry, Matthew Maher, Kristian Nairn, Con O’Neill, David Fane, Samba Schutte, Nat Faxon, and Leslie Jones. The crew is further enriched by new additions, including recurring guest stars Ruibo Qian, Madeleine Sami, Anapela Polataivao, and Erroll Shand, along with guest stars Minnie Driver and Bronson Pinchot.
