Elliot Page: His upcoming memoir

Flatiron Books released a press statement last week announcing that trans actor Elliot Page is publishing a memoir with them! Titled PAGEBOY, the book will cover Elliot’s trans identity, his journey through Hollywood, and mental health issues.

According to the press release from Flatiron books, “The memoir will delve into Page’s relationship with his body, his experiences as one of the most famous trans people in the world, and will cover mental health, assault, love, relationships, sex, and the cesspool that Hollywood can be.”

Page was already a massive celebrity when they came out as transgender in December 2020. Also already a member of the LGBTQ community prior to announcing their transition, their announcement that they were now going by Elliot was received with overwhelming pride and joy from the LGBTQ community and its allies.

In December 2020 he took to Instagram to share his news and journey with the world. “I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self,” the post said.

Then on December 20, just a couple of weeks later, he updated again with a picture of himself. He said, “From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your love and support has been the greatest gift. Stay safe. Be there for each other. If you are able, support @transanta and @translifeline. See you in 2021. Xoxo, Elliot.”

Since this day he has been a vocal advocate for the trans community and particularly vocal about all the bills currently circulating through state legislatures attacking trans youth in the United States.

Elliot Page and Oprah Winfrey

In an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey, Elliot Page detailed his feelings and his struggles with his body over the years. Page spoke very candidly about the relief he felt after transitioning and coming out. But mental health also played a big role in that interview, and we expect that this upcoming memoir will also include such vulnerabilities.

Huge supporters of Elliot Page, we are extremely excited about this memoir. Watch this space for more information about the release as it comes closer to the date.
