Heartstopper Season 3: First Pics Unlocked and We’re Buzzing!

This morning, after Netflix had us on a wild letter hunt across their accounts worldwide, we finally cracked the code and unlocked the first look at Heartstopper Season 3! Netflix dropped six images on their official accounts in Brazil, LATAM, UK, USA, Netherlands, and Spain. Each pic had a hidden letter, and together they spelled “Oliver” – the magic password to unlock the goodies we’re about to show you.

The nine images Netflix shared don’t spill much about the new season, but they kick off the Season 3 promo era, and we’re here for it. Whatever we can get to keep us afloat until October 3 (premiere day), we’ll take it. Among the usual glimpses of our faves and what they might be up to, there was a little surprise we unlocked that honestly, we didn’t see coming: Oliver Spring.

In the comics, Oliver Spring is Charlie (Joe Locke) and Tori’s (Jenny Walser) little brother, but the TV show had completely left him out – until now. According to Alice Oseman, the genius behind Heartstopper, “Oliver Spring will be making a small but festive appearance in Season 3 of Heartstopper as a younger cousin of Tori and Charlie. I’m so excited for the fans of the show to meet this beloved character from the comics!” Played by Jensen Clayden, Oliver will surely give the new season an adorable vibe, adding that extra layer of cuteness we all adore.

As Oseman previously told Netflix about Season 3, “We are doing something that will feel very different, and people will be surprised, and I can’t wait.” But don’t worry, the show isn’t straying from its core message – the first episode of Season 3 is titled “Love.” While Heartstopper has always been about relationships, this time around the vibe is a lot more mature.

“Season 2 ended with Nick (Kit Connor) beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues, and it’s this that will drive the story through Season 3,” Oseman continued. “While Heartstopper will always celebrate the joyful and point towards hope, I’m really excited that we are allowing the tone of the show to mature alongside our beloved characters growing up. Mental health, sex, university ambitions, and more: Nick, Charlie, and the Heartstopper teens are getting older, learning more about themselves and each other, and experiencing new desires, new fears, and new joys as they approach adulthood.”

The first-look unlocked photos reflect these deepening realities, while also showing moments of intimacy, joy, and friendship. Check out the pictures in the gallery below!
