Spoiler Alert: Jim Parsons is hitting the big screen this Christmas
Jim Parsons is back on the big screen with an adaptation of Michael Ausiello’s best selling memoir “Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies.” The screen adaptation is taking a shorter name and sticking with just Spoiler Alert, but the film looks every bit as outstanding as the novel.
The official trailer dropped today and it looks absolutely adorable. In addition to Jim Parsons, Spoiler Alert features the likes of Ben Aldridge, Bill Irwin, Jeffrey Self, and Sally Field.
You can watch the trailer here:
Set in New York City against the backdrop of Christmas, Michael (Jim Parsons) meets Kit (Ben Aldridge) while out and about one night in the city. From the trailer, it looks like Michael has some quirks about him, and Kit isn’t exactly out to his parents when he meets Michael. Despite their differences, the pair fall in love and an epic romance begins.
Except paradise doesn’t last for long. Kit falls ill with a terminal illness, and suddenly the story shifts gears from that of a rom-com to one of tears and heartbreak. While we’re not totally sure based on the trailer alone, considering the original source material is called “Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies” we’re going to assume this is one of those gay romances that is going to leave us in complete ruination.
Both Ben Aldridge and Jim Parsons are self-identified out gay actors, which probably has something to do with the fact that even in the trailer, their chemistry bleeds through the screen. Aldridge is well known on the small screen. You can find him in shows such as Fleabag, Reign, and Our Girl.
And Jim Parsons needs no introduction. Most known for his role as Sheldon Cooper on Big Bang Theory, Parsons has also gone onto star in many other productions since the completion of that show. His role is a crowd favorite in the 2020 mini-series Hollywood.
Spoiler Alert will be released on December 2 in select theaters around the United States, and will be available nationwide on December 16.
