Good Omens 3 Release Date: The Final Chapter Arrives This May

The Good Omens 3 Release Date is officially here, and it’s been a long, complicated road to get to this point. Back in December 2023, it was announced that Good Omens would return for a third and final season, bringing the story of our favorite angel and demon to its intended conclusion. At the time, we were ready for one more full season of celestial chaos, slow-burning longing, and queer yearning that could move mountains (or at least delay the apocalypse again).

But things shifted. In October 2024, Prime Video revealed that instead of a full third season, the story would conclude with a single 90-minute movie. The decision followed sexual assault allegations made against series co-creator Neil Gaiman, who wrote the original novel with Sir Terry Pratchett. Gaiman did not continue working on the production after the allegations became public, though he had contributed to the writing of the finale. While we won’t dwell on it, there’s no denying that the circumstances surrounding this final chapter have been heavy—especially for a show that has always felt like a celebration of love, choice, and humanity in all its messy, queer glory.

And yet, here we are. We finally have the Good Omens 3 Release Date.

After weeks of cryptic posts across the show’s social media accounts—revisiting moments from Seasons 1 and 2 and stirring up speculation across the fandom—we knew an announcement was coming. And on this very Friday the 13th (lucky for us, apparently), it was announced that the final chapter of Aziraphale and Crowley’s story will premiere on Wednesday, May 13. Exactly three months from now.

For two seasons, we’ve followed Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and Crowley (David Tennant) as they first tried to prevent Armageddon after a baby mix-up misplaced the Antichrist, costing them their standing in Heaven and Hell and leaving them stranded—somewhat happily—among humans. Season 2 raised the emotional stakes even higher. While hiding an amnesiac archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) from both Heaven and Hell, they unraveled another celestial mystery, all while dancing around feelings that had been building for centuries.

By the finale, Heaven needed a new Supreme Archangel after Gabriel regained his memories and ran off with Beelzebub (Shelley Conn). The Metatron (Derek Jacobi) offered the role to Aziraphale, calling him the “right choice” to usher in the Second Coming. Meanwhile, after some much-needed nudging from Nina (Nina Sosanya) and Maggie (Maggie Service) about being honest about feelings, Crowley tried to confess his love. Instead, Aziraphale suggested Crowley return to Heaven as his second-in-command, reinstated as an angel. Crowley refused, and in a moment that instantly became queer TV history, he kissed Aziraphale before the two parted ways. Aziraphale ascended to Heaven to prepare for the Second Coming. Crowley drove off in his Bentley, heartbroken.

We’re still emotionally stuck in that final scene.

What the movie holds for their relationship is one of the biggest questions hanging over this Good Omens 3 Release Date announcement. Will love triumph over celestial bureaucracy? Can an angel and a demon choose each other over the systems that have shaped them for millennia? For a show that has quietly (and sometimes loudly) centered a queer love story between two celestial beings who defy labels and expectations, the stakes feel deeply personal.

It’s bittersweet, though. The end of Good Omens arrives under circumstances no one wanted, and it’s a shame that the work of so many artists has been overshadowed. But we still want to see this story through, not just for ourselves, but for the cast and crew who poured their hearts into it, for Sheen and Tennant, whose chemistry turned subtext into text, for Terry Pratchett’s legacy, and for the fans who have seen themselves reflected in this unconventional, tender, and defiantly queer love story.

So we guess we’ll see y’all on May 13.
