The Andy Warhol Diaries: Trailer Debut

Netflix has teamed up with the legendary Ryan Murphy and Andrew Rossi to create a six-part documentary about the life of Andy Warhol titled The Andy Warhol Diaries. Warhol’s diaries were published after his death and are the premise on which this production is based.

The series kicks off in Pittsburgh, which is where Warhol grew up. It documents the eccentric artist’s journey throughout his incredible and ever-changing career. Warhol was a deeply personal man who didn’t often reveal too much about his personal life. These journals, on which this series is based, are a privileged look into an otherwise mysterious life.

Warhol lived by the belief that while life is not eternal, art is and the creation of that art is of paramount importance. The docu-series features the likes of John Waters and Rob Lowe who engage in discussions about all aspects of Warhol’s life – including his sexuality. You can check the trailer below!

Warhol was the inventor of the pop art genre, which he brought to the world in the 60s. Prior to that he was working for Glamour Magazine in New York City and was known as one of the most successful commercial artists of his time.

He also painted famous portraits of high-profile celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and Mick Jagger. These portraits have been immortalized in the art world. His painting Eight Elvises sold for $100 million dollars in 2008, making it one of the most valuable paintings in history.

He released books, created video art, and produced more than sixty films throughout his career. He was shot by an aspiring writer who starred in one of his films. He was seriously injured in this attack and ended up having to wear a surgical corset for the rest of his life.

Featuring real-life footage of the man and his work, the docu-series looks to be as epic as the man himself. Netflix is immortalizing his story for the screen and will be available for viewing on March 9, 2022. It’s got Ryan Murphy’s name on it, so we’re expecting big, big things.
