A24 Drops the Pillion Teaser Trailer and We’re Already Obsessed
When Pillion made its debut back in May at the 78th Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard section, it left the audience on their feet with a roaring seven-minute ovation. The film didn’t just earn applause, it walked away with the section’s Best Screenplay prize and the coveted Palm Dog, while also picking up nominations for the Caméra d’Or and the Queer Palm. That first look had us buzzing, but now A24 has finally delivered the goods: the official Pillion teaser trailer has arrived.
Yes, you read that right, folks, after months of waiting, the Pillion teaser trailer is finally here, and it’s every bit as daring, sexy, and exhilarating as we’d hoped.
Adapted from Adam Mars-Jones’ 2020 novel Box Hill, the film follows Colin (Harry Melling), a shy young gay man whose life takes a sharp turn after he meets Ray, a charismatic biker who just happens to run the local motorbike gang. Ray doesn’t just invite Colin into his orbit—he claims him as his submissive, inducting him into a world where leather, power, and intimacy blur together. The official synopsis promises a story about liberation and control in equal measure, asking whether Colin is really breaking free or simply finding a new kind of cage.

The Pillion teaser trailer wastes no time showing us exactly what’s in store. We see Colin and Ray’s barroom meet-cute, the start of their intense dom-sub partnership, and plenty of moments that scream queer kink cinema in the best way possible. There’s Ray casually measuring Colin for a harness, a playful wrestling match in tight gear, and then the jaw-dropper of a closer: “Buy yourself a butt plug. You’re too tight.” Honestly, only A24 could give us a teaser this cheeky and this thought-provoking all at once.
What makes this even more exciting is knowing Pillion isn’t just about pushing boundaries for the sake of shock; it’s about intimacy, identity, and the thrill (and risk) of surrender. It’s queer storytelling that dares to get messy, complicated, and raw. And that’s exactly why we’re already obsessed.
Pillion marks the feature debut of writer-director Harry Lighton and is produced by Element Pictures, with A24 set to release the film. The film will be released theatrically in the United Kingdom by Picturehouse on November 28. While the official release date for the US and the rest of the world hasn’t been announced yet, we’ll keep our eyes peeled and update you the moment we know more.
Until then, excuse us while we keep hitting replay on the Pillion teaser trailer. After all, some rides are just too good not to take again and again and again.
