Margaret Qualley Leads the Chaos in First Honey Don’t! Trailer from Ethan Coen
Ahead of its premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, Focus Features has dropped the first trailer for Honey Don’t!, Ethan Coen’s latest dark comedy—and trust us, it’s as weird and wonderful as we hoped.
As we told y’all a few weeks back when the release date was officially announced, Honey Don’t! comes stacked with an A-list cast that includes Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, and Chris Evans, plus Charlie Day, Billy Eichner, Talia Ryder, Gabby Beans, Lera Abova, Kristen Connolly, and Lena Hall. Let’s just say, the cast alone hints at the beautiful madness to come.
The film follows Honey O’Donahue (Qualley), a small-town lesbian private investigator whose latest case takes a turn for the bizarre. What starts off as a straightforward job quickly unravels into a tangled mess involving mysterious deaths, bizarre religious rituals, and a dangerously charismatic church leader played by—you guessed it—Chris Evans. Aubrey Plaza, ever the enigma, is set to play a mysterious key woman tied to it all.
Set in Bakersfield, California, Honey Don’t! promises a wild ride that mixes campy noir, dark humor, and unapologetically queer energy—and we’re already obsessed. The first Honey Don’t! trailer gives us just a taste of what’s to come, from Honey’s deadpan delivery to a few truly bonkers visual gags, and we’re living for all of it.

Co-written by Coen and longtime collaborator Tricia Cooke, Honey Don’t! is the second installment in what the duo is calling their “lesbian B-movie trilogy,” which kicked off with last year’s Drive-Away Dolls—another Focus Features gem also starring Qualley. If that film was any indication, we can expect genre-blending chaos, quirky characters, and a delightfully queer lens at the center of it all.
