Netflix Unveils First Look at 10DANCE With a Single Image and December Release Window

After Netflix announced back in November that a live-action adaptation of the popular manga 10DANCE was in the works, we’ve been dying to know more about the project. And today, the streaming giant finally gave us our first look at the film! Okay, so it’s just a single image that you can see above, but hey, at least we also got a partial release date—10DANCE is officially coming to Netflix globally in December 2025, though the exact date is still under wraps.

10DANCE dives deep into the intense and electrifying world of competitive ballroom dance, where pride, passion, and romance intertwine. Directed by Keishi Otomo (Rurouni Kenshin), the film stars Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida as two rival dancers whose journey on the dance floor leads to an unexpected connection.

Based on the manga by Inouesatoh, which was serialized in Young Magazine by Kodansha, 10DANCE made waves in the BL community, even winning the This BL is Amazing! Award in 2019. The story follows Shinya Suzuki (Takeuchi), the reigning Japanese champion of Latin Dance, and Shinya Sugiki (Machida), the world’s second-ranked Standard Ballroom dancer. Despite their contrasting styles and personalities, the two are constantly compared due to their similar names—something that frustrates Suzuki to no end. But when Sugiki proposes they team up to take on the ultimate challenge—the grueling 10-Dance Competition—Suzuki’s competitive nature won’t let him walk away. As they push each other to the limit in training, their clashing energies start giving way to something deeper… something neither of them expected.

Director Otomo teases that the film will explore “the depths of love and its capacity,” highlighting how dance can transcend boundaries and bring hidden emotions to the surface. Meanwhile, manga creator Inouesatoh admits that adapting 10DANCE felt like an impossible task, but with Netflix’s backing and the “perfect” casting of Takeuchi and Machida, they’re confident this adaptation will capture the story’s sensuality and joy in ways beyond the manga.

If that single image Netflix released is any indication, it looks like we’re in for an emotional and visually stunning ride, filled with high-stakes competition, intense training sequences, and a romance that will surely have our hearts making somersaults. And honestly? We are so seated for this one.

Keep an eye on this space as we get more updates on 10DANCE. December can’t come soon enough!
