Young Royals: Season 2 teasers are here!
Over the last 24 hours, Netflix Nordic has been serving the Young Royals fandom with quite a treat indeed. Yesterday they dropped season 2 teaser pictures that left an awful lot to the imagination. Today, allegedly with permission from Netflix, Edvin Ryding’s agent spilled just a little bit of tea to contextualize the pictures released yesterday.
Young Royals ended season 1 with Prince Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding) finding out that the person who leaked his sex tape with Simon (Omar Rudberg) was actually his cousin, August (Malte Gårdinger). What’s more, it turns out the Queen knew it was August who leaked the video and said nothing to Wilhelm to “protect him”.
Wilhelm heads off into winter break in a blaze of glory and embraces Simon publicly in front of the entire school, and tells him that he loves him. He gets in a car and drives off, but not before staring down the camera with a look that suggests that baby, it’s on. The Cliffhanger left the entire fandom on edge. And it’s been a year.
But yesterday, the season 2 teasers that were released definitely show that there is some kind of interaction between Simon and Wilhelm. They’re sitting together in class (although the scene does look tense, indeed) and there is a picture of a scene where Wilhelm is on a rowing machine in the gym and Simon definitely has his hand on Wilhelm’s side. The internet exploded yesterday with speculation about the status of their relationship.

Then today, a representative of Ryding’s agency, Bo Thulin, let the cat out of the bag on Instagram.
The Instagram post said: “1 year today since the start of Young Royals. A winter break has passed and Prince Wilhelm and the rest of his classmates are back at Hillerska. When Wilhelm tries to take revenge on August, and win back Simon’s trust, he creates problems that threaten the entire monarchy.”
And we are here for it! November is so absolutely far away and we are completely obsessed with this show. If this is what we have to look forward to, Wilhelm trying to win back his mans, we’re definitely signing up for this ride.
We have many theories about the fate of the monarchy, the state of their relationship, and whether or not society is ready to welcome an out and proud gay crowned Prince, and we can’t wait to find out.
