WHAM!’s Last Christmas Turns 40! Celebrate with the Ultimate Anniversary EP

Forty years ago, WHAM!’s Last Christmas made its debut and turned our holiday playlists into something unforgettable. It’s hard to believe that George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley’s festive hit is now a beloved classic that brings up memories of holidays past while still feeling fresh every time we hear it. And this year, to mark the song’s 40th anniversary, George Michael Entertainment and Sony Music are treating us to a special Last Christmas 40th Anniversary EP release, packed with exclusive goodies for fans both old and new.

This commemorative EP is set to release on December 13, offering all the original 7″ and 12″ versions of Last Christmas, alongside a treasure of a track—George Michael’s previously unreleased 2006 live performance of the song at London’s Wembley Arena. Imagine hearing that smooth, soulful voice filling the stadium; it’s like getting a gift directly from George Michael himself.

The EP will be available in some unique collectible formats, too. For fellow vinyl enthusiasts, it comes in limited-edition options like a 12” Snowflake white vinyl, a 12” picture disc, and even a 12” zoetrope picture disc. Of course, CD and digital formats are also part of the lineup for those who want to bring the magic everywhere. With four tracks available in each format, including the classic Last Christmas (and Pudding Mix) on Side A and, on Side B, that live Wembley performance along with an instrumental version, there’s something here for everyone.

Originally released in December 1984, Last Christmas soared to Number One in 16 countries, hitting multi-platinum status six times. With 5 billion combined streams, it’s no surprise it remains a go-to holiday hit for fans worldwide. This iconic song has become part of the season, and now, 40 years later, it’s making our holiday playlists all over again.
