The Old Guard 2 Trailer: Charlize Theron Faces Off Against Uma Thurman in Epic Sequel

We haven’t exactly been shy about our excitement for The Old Guard 2—and today’s no exception. The Old Guard 2 trailer just dropped, and it’s absolutely incredible. We’re talking jaw-dropping action, high-stakes drama, and some major revelations that are already setting the stage for one of the most exciting queer action films of the year. Trust us, this trailer delivers.

As we previously reported, The Old Guard 2 picks up right where the first one left off, and this time around, the stakes are even higher. Andy (Charlize Theron) is still leading her immortal team, but there’s one major twist: she’s not immortal anymore. That’s right, the centuries-old warrior who’s survived countless battles can now die. But on the bright side, the OG gang’s all here: Nile (KiKi Layne), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), Nicky (Luca Marinelli), and even James Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor), are back in action, so at least there’s that.

The trailer teases how that newfound vulnerability shifts the group dynamic and forces Andy to not only rely more heavily on Nile, who continues to emerge as the team’s moral center and most powerful rising star but enlist help from an old friend, Tuah (Henry Golding), who might hold the key to unlocking the truth behind their powers.

We also get quick glimpses of Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts) who is still in exile after that little betrayal situation, and Quynh (Veronica Ngô) who re-enters the picture after centuries locked away in her underwater prison. And well, she is not here to play nice.

But the trailer’s biggest bombshell? The powerful new villain aka the original immortal, played by none other than Uma Thurman. Yes, you read that right, Uma freaking Thurman. Watching her go head-to-head with Charlize Theron in a sword fight that looks like it belongs in an action film Hall of Fame? Instant chills. We lost our minds watching it, and we’re pretty sure you will too.

But don’t take our word for it, watch the Old Guard 2 trailer below and see for yourself just how explosive this sequel looks.

Sequels rarely live up to the originals, we know that. But if this trailer is anything to go by, The Old Guard 2 might not just live up to it… it might surpass it. With director Victoria Mahoney at the helm and a script from Greg Rucka (creator of the original graphic novel) and Sarah L. Walker, we’re feeling pretty confident that this sequel will be every bit the badass follow-up we’ve been waiting for.

What did you think of the Old Guard 2 trailer? Do you think this could be the end of Andy and the rest of the gang? Will the team survive what’s coming? Drop your thoughts and theories, because we’ve got about ten already. July 2 can’t come fast enough.
