The Disappointments Season 2 Trailer Is Finally Here
A month ago, we shared that the director’s cut of The Disappointments Season 1 was dropping on YouTube ahead of the release of Season 2. Well, consider this your official reminder: all five episodes are officially out and ready for you to binge. Whether you’re catching up or diving in for the first time, there’s never been a better moment to (re)enter this beautifully chaotic world. But that’s not all we’ve got for you today. The Disappointments Season 2 trailer has finally arrived, and trust us, it’s bringing the drama.™
As we previously told y’all, Season 1 closed with a time jump that completely upended everything we thought we knew, revealing that Ray (Rich Burns) and Dwight (Trevor LaPaglia) had broken up, with zero context and even fewer answers. It was the kind of twist that lingers. The kind that hurts a little. Thankfully, creator Rich Burns has been clear that Season 2 won’t leave us hanging, promising a deeper dive into not just Ray’s story, but also the lives and careers of James (James Campbell) and Gary (Gedde Watanabe).

Now, The Disappointments Season 2 trailer gives us our first real look at how all of that begins to unfold.
Per the official synopsis: “Ray, Gary and James each find themselves with new and exciting employment possibilities that could actually turn their disappointing lives around while also managing new challenges in their personal lives: Ray, struggling to move on after his breakup with Dwight, lands a job writing on a girls’ animated series and discovers he’s an awkward fit in a room full of Gen-Z writers. Gary finds himself hired to be the co-host of a talk show and prepares to shoot the pilot while a very unexpected relationship sprouts up in his life. And newly-licensed real estate agent James manages to find a mentor in a prestigious Beverly Hills realty firm, only for complications to arise when the two men enter into a kinky sexual affair.”
If that sounds messy, complicated, and a little unhinged… that’s because it is, and that’s exactly why we love it.
The Disappointments Season 2 trailer leans into that energy, teasing career shake-ups, emotional fallout, and the kind of deeply human awkwardness that defines the series. There’s a sense that everything is shifting for these characters—personally and professionally—and not always in ways they can control. It’s funny, a little painful, and very, very real.
Watch the trailer below and see what we mean.
With eight episodes total, The Disappointments Season 2 will roll out weekly on Sundays at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET, beginning March 22 and running through May 10. It’s a rollout that gives us time to sit with each twist and turn, and based on this trailer, we’re going to have a lot to unpack.
The Disappointments continues to carve out space for stories we don’t see nearly enough of. Queer stories, yes, but specifically queer stories about midlife. About second chances, reinvention, heartbreak, and the messy, ongoing process of figuring things out later in life. Representation shouldn’t stop at coming-of-age; it should reflect the full spectrum of our lives—the uncertainty, the unexpected love, the career pivots. None of that disappears with age. If anything, it only gets more complicated.
And if The Disappointments Season 2 trailer is any indication, we’re in for a season that embraces all of it.
