Sam Smith is back to teach us all how to love ourselves more
Sam Smith is back with new music! We repeat, Sam Smith is back with new music! The English singer and songwriter is gracing us with a new song after almost two years of hiatus and here at Q+ we couldn’t be happier about it.
On April 28, the hitmaker singer and songwriter dropped their new single called Love Me More along with a beautiful music video, and almost immediately fans praised them for their very raw and powerful self-love anthem.
In a statement, Smith said, “I wrote this song for anyone who feels different, anyone who has to stop themselves every day from saying unkind things to themselves in their head all the time,”
“I felt like that for the longest time and slowly I’m learning how to just be nice to myself. I wanted to share that because I captured it in this song. Over the last two years, music has been my therapy more than ever. So I hope this song can be your friend,” Smith added.
If you haven’t listened to their song or watched their video, so you can do so at the link below:
The music video opens with clips from Smith’s childhood and the start of their career, as well as a small homage to their breakout hit Stay With Me, before the melancholic track turns into a self-empowering anthem.
“Have you ever felt like being somebody else, feeling like the mirror isn’t good for your health,” they sing. “Every day I’m trying not to hate myself, but lately it’s not hurting like it did before. Maybe I am learning how to love me more.”
In the video, Smith is seen dancing and enjoying themselves at a party surrounded by other queer folks. And honestly? It’s what our queer hearts needed at the moment. So thank you, Sam Smith, for teaching us how to love ourselves more with your music.
