‘I Wish You All The Best’ casting announcement is here!
Fans of Mason Deaver’s YA novel I Wish You All The Best have been anxiously awaiting the announcement of who will play their beloved Ben since it was revealed that the book was being adapted for the screen. Well, the casting announcement is finally here! Deadline announced yesterday that Corey Fogelmanis is set to bring the character of Ben alive.
Corey Fogelmanis has been at this acting thing for a while now. Recently he starred in the television series My Life With The Walter Boys (which is currently in post-production) and has a slew of other television appearances and roles under his belt. Some of these titles include Criminal Minds, Girl Meets World, Prank Me, and Hulu’s horror series Into The Dark.
While this casting announcement is just coming to light now, filming has been underway for I Wish You All The Best since early October. Fogelmanis is set to star alongside Alexandra Daddario, who plays Ben’s sister. Other notable casting contributions include Miles Gutierrez-Riley (as Nathan), Lexi Underwood (as Meleika), Lisa Yamada (as Sophie) and 9-1-1 Lone Star’s own Brian Michael Smith.
Based on the young adult novel of the same title, I Wish You All The Best is the story of Ben, a non-binary teenager whose parents kick them out of their house after they come out. Ben goes to live with their sister Hannah as they try to put their life back together.
At their new school, Ben finds comfort in art classes, finds refuge and camaraderie in a teacher, and bonds with Nathan. Already anxiety-ridden because of everything they had already endured because of their parents, Ben harbors fears about coming out to Nathan and subsequently losing him too.
When Corey Fogelman’s casting announcement dropped, fans rejoiced at the news. Written, directed, and produced by Tommy Dorfman (who is also trans), fans have high expectations for this very important queer film.
