Heartstopper to Return This Fall With Its Second Season

It’s official, folks! After months of waiting, Netflix has finally announced the return of its hit series Heartstopper. In a small teaser trailer that was part of Netflix’s UK “Returning Favourites” week, the cast of the award-winning coming-of-age series announced that they would be back with the show’s second season on August 3. You heard that right, Season 2 arrives this fall on Netflix!

According to the official press statement Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor), now official boyfriends, will have to learn to navigate their new relationship; Tara (Corinna Brown) and Darcy (Kizzy Edgell) will face unforeseen challenges, and Tao (Will Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney) will work out if they can ever be more than just friends. With exams on the horizon, a school trip to Paris, and a prom to plan, the gang has a lot to juggle as they journey through the next stages of life, love, and friendship.

It sounds exciting and it promises to be as members of the cast cleverly tease this new season as ‘more mature,’ ‘cool and fresh’, and ‘just a different vibe to season 1.’

Returning along with the main cast from the first season, it has been confirmed that Sebastian Croft (Ben), Tobie Donovan (Isaac), Rhea Norwood (Imogen), Cormac Hyde-Corrin (Harry), Jenny Walser (Tori), Fisayo Akinade’s (Mr. Ajayi), Chetna Pandya (Coach Singh), Alan Turkington (Mr. Lange) and Olivia Colman (as Nick’s mum, Sarah) all will reprise their respective roles in this new season.

But there are some new faces joining the gang this fall as well, including Leila Khan as Higgs student Sahar Zahid, Nima Taleghani as Truham teacher Mr. Farouk, Bradley Riches (who played a Truham student in Season 1) as James McEwan, Jack Barton as Nick’s older brother, David, Thibault de Montalembert as Nick’s father, Stephane, and Bel Priestley as Naomi and Ash Self as Felix, who will both play new friends of Elle.

Heartstopper Season 1 has a 100% Critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is ‘Certified Fresh’ with over 50 reviews. It also reached the Netflix Top Ten list in 54 countries. And the graphic novel series – on which the series is based – has sold over 8 million copies, has been published in 35 countries, and has been featured on many international best-seller charts, achieving #1 spots on the best-seller lists of both The Sunday Times (UK) and The New York Times (USA).
