Heartbreak High S3 Sets Its Premiere Date—And the Final Chapter Looks Wild
It’s been a long wait, but Heartbreak High S3 finally has a release date, and trust Hartley High to make the announcement as chaotic as possible. Not only did we get confirmation of when the third and final season is dropping, but we were also treated to brand-new production stills and a full trailer. All in one day. We’re overwhelmed. We’re excited. We’re absolutely not emotionally prepared.
Mark your calendars: Heartbreak High S3 premieres globally on Netflix on March 25. That’s right, folks, the countdown to graduation (and inevitable disaster) officially begins now. Cancel your plans, warn the group chat, and prepare to binge, because if this final season is anything like the teaser suggests, we’re in for one last, gloriously messy ride with the Hartley High crew.

According to Netflix, the official synopsis reads: “For Hartley High’s graduating class, it’s goodbye school, hello adulthood! Yet when a revenge prank goes horribly wrong, Amerie (Ayesha Madon) and her friends must cover up their secret or risk losing everything.” We don’t know about you, but ‘revenge prank goes horribly wrong’ already sounds like the kind of chaos that only this show could pull off. And the trailer wastes no time proving it.
The two-minute preview drops us straight into Muck-up Day at Hartley High. Everything starts off as harmless senior-year chaos, the kind of unhinged celebration we’d expect. It’s all fun and games at first. Costumes. Laughs. Classic end-of-school antics. But when Amerie and the gang pull a prank at a nighttime fair, something goes very, very wrong. We’re not told exactly what happens, but something clearly goes down. Police get involved. Panic sets in. And by the end of the trailer, we’re staring at mugshots of our favorite teens. Yes. Mugshots.
Does something tragic happen? Is someone hurt? Are they covering up something bigger than we think? The trailer keeps it deliberately vague, but the tension is unmistakable. If this is how Heartbreak High S3 kicks off, the emotional stakes are about to skyrocket.
And while the central mystery looms large, the trailer also gives us glimpses of the personal journeys that made us fall in love with this show in the first place. Ca$h (Will McDonald) and Darren (James Majoos) continue navigating one of the most complex queer relationships on TV: tender, frustrating, and deeply real. Quinni (Chloé Hayden) remains a standout, and we’re already bracing ourselves for an arc that will likely balance growth, vulnerability, and that signature Hartley intensity. Harper (Asher Yasbincek), Amerie, Sasha (Gemma Chua-Tran), Malakai (Thomas Weatherall), and the rest of the gang seem to be grappling with what comes after high school—and for a group of teens who’ve already faced so much, adulthood doesn’t look simple.

One of the things we’ve always loved about Heartbreak High is how unapologetically queer it is. This series doesn’t sideline its LGBTQ+ characters; it centers them. It gives them romance, heartbreak, mistakes, growth, friendships, and yes, sometimes absolute chaos. And as we head into this final chapter, it feels especially meaningful to watch these teens face adulthood head-on, even if adulthood is arriving with sirens and a criminal record.
But don’t just take our word for it, watch the trailer below and join us in spiraling over every frame.
Returning cast members for Heartbreak High S3 include Ayesha Madon, James Majoos, Chloé Hayden, Asher Yasbincek, Thomas Weatherall, Will McDonald, Gemma Chua-Tran, Bryn Chapman Parish, Sherry-Lee Watson, Brodie Townsend, Rachel House, Chika Ikogwe, Kartanya Maynard, Aki Munroe, Ioane Sa’ula, Ben Turland, and William McKenna.
The series was created by Hannah Carroll Chapman and produced by Sarah Freeman, with Anna Curtis serving as co-producer and Carly Heaton as executive producer. This season’s writers include Megan Palinkas, Keir Wilkins, Hannah Samuel, Jessica Paine, Thomas Wilson-White, Thomas Weatherall, Sarah Emery, and Hannah Carroll Chapman. Jessie Oldfield and Adam Murfet direct episodes 1–2 and 7–8, Tig Terera helms episodes 3–4, and Nina Buxton directs episodes 5–6. The season is produced by Fremantle Australia and NewBe and was filmed in Sydney, NSW.
As we prepare to say goodbye to Hartley High, we’re holding onto equal parts excitement and dread as we count down the days until March 25. We can’t wait to see how this story wraps up, but if the trailer is any indication, the road to adulthood is going to be anything but smooth.
We guess we’ll see you at Muck-up Day. Just… maybe very far away from that fair.
