XO, Kitty Season 2: First Look and Release Date Revealed!
It’s no secret that when XO, Kitty first dropped, we didn’t think it would end up being an LGBTQ+ show. But to our delight—and yours—it turned out to be very, very gay. Naturally, we’ve been tracking every crumb of news about this show ever since. And after waiting impatiently for Season 2 updates, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is here!
Today, Netflix not only gave us the first look but also announced that XO, Kitty Season 2 will premiere globally on January 16, 2025. The cast even hit the streets of Seoul, South Korea, to share the news in a fun social media post.
For those who need a refresher, XO, Kitty follows Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart), our fave matchmaker from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, as she sets out on her own adventure. Kitty enrolls at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (K.I.S.S.) to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, Dae (Choi Minyeong). But her fairy-tale reunion quickly crumbles when she discovers Dae has been hiding a secret: he’s already dating Yuri (Gia Kim).
Kitty’s journey is anything but simple. As she adjusts to life in a new country, navigates the challenges of high school, and uncovers a mysterious connection between her late mother and Yuri’s family, she also finds herself in the middle of a love polygon. Yes, polygon—because while Kitty starts the series thinking she’s in love with Dae, her feelings for Yuri sneak up on her, sparking a sexual identity crisis that makes her story all the more compelling. By the end of Season 1, Kitty realizes she’s attracted to both men and women, cementing her place as a bisexual icon we’re thrilled to root for.
The first season also explored other LGBTQ+ storylines, like Yuri’s struggle with her sexuality and family expectations and Q’s relationship with Florian, a French exchange student. These layers of representation are part of what made XO, Kitty such a standout show for queer audiences.
As Netflix teased, Season 2 picks up with Kitty returning to K.I.S.S. for a new semester. She’s single for the first time in forever, ready for a fresh start, and promising herself “no more meddling, no more drama.” (We’ll see how long that lasts.) A mysterious letter from her mother’s past sets her on a wild journey, while new faces at K.I.S.S.—including Stella (Audrey Huynh), Praveena (casting TBA), and Jin (Joshua Lee)—promise to shake things up.
The returning cast includes all our favorites: Minyeong Choi (Dae), Gia Kim (Yuri), Sang Heon Lee (Min Ho), Anthony Keyvan (Q), Peter Thurnwald (Alex), and Regan Aliyah (Juliana). While there’s no trailer yet, Netflix has shared some first-look photos to tide us over—check them out below!
Get ready ‘cause XO, Kitty is almost back to steal our hearts—and probably break them a little too. Let us know what you’re most excited about for Season 2!
