Will & Harper Trailer Out Now!

Will & Harper is the queer story that the world needs right now! When one hears the name ‘Will Ferrell’ it’s not usually associated with queer things, but this time, it is – and for a very special reason. Three years ago, Will Ferrell was filming a movie when he received a most surprising email: his dear friend of nearly 30 years was coming out to him as a trans woman. Consequently, Harper Steele and Will Ferrell hit the road and filmed an epic documentary that showcases their friendship and reintroduces Harper to all her favorite places in the United States, as her new self. The Will & Harper trailer is out now!

Will Ferrell first met Harper Steele in 1995 as a writer on Saturday Night Light when he first joined the show. In this intimate, honest, and heartfelt documentary, Will and Harper hit the open road together to process this new stage of their friendship. Over 16 days, the two drive from New York to LA, visiting stops that are meaningful to them, to their friendship, and to America. Through laughter, tears, and many cans of Pringles, they push past their comfort zones as they re-examine their relationships to these spaces, and to each other, in this new light.

In the Will & Harper trailer, Harper Steele says “I love this country so much, I just don’t know if it loves me back right now.” That sentiment was the impetus for this documentary and their journey together across the United States of America. They talk about Harper’s transition, how she feels about herself, the concerns she has now that she is finally allowing herself to live her truth, and Will Ferrell stands by her every step of the way.

We need more stories like this – high-profile stars standing by the trans community as they take the very brave first steps of settling into their true identity. The Will & Harper trailer is an emotional watch, and honestly not something we ever thought we’d see Will Ferrell involved in.

Will & Harper releases in selected theaters around the U.S. throughout September and then lands on Netflix on September 27. Follow us on X and Instagram for all queer stuff!
