Tom Goss Drops Campy New Anthem ‘Gay Stuff’

Pride Month may be over, but Tom Goss isn’t done celebrating. The queer pop artist is keeping the rainbow energy alive all summer long with his hilariously campy new single Gay Stuff. And honestly, we’ve never wanted to update our playlists faster. It’s time to add Gay Stuff to, well, our gay stuff.

Directed by longtime collaborator Michael Serrato, the song’s playful new music video is a full-on fever dream of queer joy, thrifted chaos, and unapologetic self-expression. From dancing in grocery stores to taking the streets of Palm Springs by storm, it’s got everything we love about being queer and ridiculous packed into a little more than two and a half minutes of glitter-filled fun.

Gay Stuff is pure pop fun, inspired by drag icons like Willam, Alaska, and RuPaul, but there’s a cheeky twist. It pokes fun at stereotypes by fully leaning into them, declaring the most everyday activities ‘gay’ and celebrating just how freeing that can be. “Everything is gay! Everything is straight! Everything is in-between,” Goss says. “The sooner we stop trying to limit ourselves, the freer and happier we’ll be.” And honestly? Preach.

Co-written and produced by Austin Danson, Gay Stuff has been a long time coming. The concept actually dates back almost a decade. “We thought it was just funny,” Goss says. “We pitched it around to other queer artists, but no one bit. Years later, Austin sent me a reworked version, and I couldn’t stop laughing. We realized this song was too good not to make ourselves.”

That DIY, joyful spirit is all over the video too. Shot just 48 hours after wrapping Goss’ last video Bear Soup, the Gay Stuff shoot came together thanks to the generosity (and sheer fabulousness) of Palm Springs’ queer community. There were borrowed props, last-minute thrift finds, and friends pitching in wherever they could. “I could barely keep a straight face during the grocery store scene,” Goss recalls. “People thought we were completely insane—and they weren’t wrong.”

Underneath the absurdity and sequins, though, there’s a real sense of purpose. Gay Stuff is about embracing joy, queerness, and the weird little things that make us feel alive. “If I can make you laugh, I can get you to think,” says Goss. “I never want to be mean or hurtful. But I do want to push boundaries in a kind, thoughtful way.”

Catch the video below and prepare to fall headfirst into a sparkly, sweaty summer of queer delight:

Just in time for dance floors, drag brunches, and backyard hangs, Gay Stuff is the Pride anthem we didn’t know we needed. As Goss puts it: “Happy Pride, everybody!”

And if you’re wondering what Gay Stuff is really about? Here’s what Goss hopes you’ll take away: “The next time you’re offered something fun to do but that little voice in your head says, ‘I can’t, I’m not [fill in the blank],’ I want you to think of ‘Gay Stuff’ and do it anyway. Embrace the weird. Embrace the joy. Life is too short not to.”
