The Heartstopper Movie Has a Title—And Yes, We’re Already Crying

Just a few hours ago, we were telling you all about how the Heartstopper movie had officially wrapped production. And now, because apparently our hearts aren’t done breaking, See-Saw Films, the official Heartstopper Instagram account, and Alice Oseman themselves have revealed the movie’s official title: Heartstopper Forever.

We are totally, obviously, not at all emotional about it. Nope. We’re fine. We’re just… emotions now. A single, tear-shaped emotion. And we cannot be reasoned with.

The announcement came in the form of a short video posted to social media. In it, Alice Oseman stands at the center, holding the final clapperboard of the production, surrounded by what we assume are some of the lucky fans who got to be on set as extras. The whole group yells the title of the Heartstopper movie—Heartstopper Forever—as Alice officially marks the end of filming. It’s simple, joyful, and absolutely gutting in the best way.

Alice Oseman also shared on their Instagram account the final Hearstopper wrap photos. “Our final Heartstopper wrap photos! With love from director Wash Westmoreland, executive producer Patrick Walters, writer/creator Alice Oseman, producer Brett Thomas, DOP James Rhodes, and lead cast and executive producers Kit Connor and Joe Locke ❤️🍂”

Netflix had already confirmed that the Heartstopper movie would be coming to the platform sometime in 2026. As fans, we already knew the film would draw from Heartstopper: Volume Six—which Alice is still updating on Tapas and Tumblr—and the beloved Nick and Charlie novella. Given the show’s timeline, this made perfect sense, but now that production has officially wrapped and the title is out in the world, it all suddenly feels very real.

Production on the Heartstopper movie lasted 35 days and took place across multiple locations. If you’re chronically online like us, you probably caught glimpses of the filming thanks to eagle-eyed fans who stumbled upon set locations. Out of respect for the cast and crew, we won’t be sharing any of those unofficial photos. We firmly believe this final chapter deserves to preserve its magic, especially knowing how emotional this story is going to be.

So what can we expect from the Heartstopper movie? If you’ve been following Volume Six, you’ll know it deals with some big, heavy changes. Alice has described it as a story about Nick and Charlie facing a major shift in their relationship as Nick prepares to leave for university, while Charlie enters his final year of school. The volume digs deep into themes of growth, stability, academic pressure, and the bittersweet tension of looming distance. Though the final pages are still in progress, the tone so far feels emotionally raw yet hopeful; very Heartstopper, through and through.

The Nick and Charlie novella, originally published in 2015, also tackles the difficult emotions that come with growing up and growing apart. Set around the time Nick is about to leave for university, the story is told in alternating perspectives and focuses on a single emotional moment: the fear of change. Charlie, overwhelmed by the idea of losing Nick to distance, spirals into self-doubt and heartbreak. One painful fight nearly derails their relationship, but through open, honest communication (and yes, a lot of tears), the two find their way back to each other. The ending doesn’t offer a perfect resolution, but it does offer something even better: the promise that love, when nurtured, can endure.

Like we shared in our last piece about Heartstopper wrapping production, saying goodbye to this universe isn’t easy. This farewell is one of the hardest we’ve faced. But we’ll always be grateful—for the light this show brought into our lives, for the stories it gave us, and for the queer joy, love, and healing that radiated from every frame.

So here we are. Heartstopper Forever. And we’ll hold it in our hearts forever, too.
