‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Trailer Finally Drops—Here’s Everything We Know About the Epic Final Chapter

Just in time for Halloween, Netflix has finally, and we mean finally, unveiled the official trailer for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. We honestly thought this day would never come. After all, Season 4 premiered way back in 2022, and since then, we’ve been waiting longer than it takes the Upside Down to thaw out. To put things in perspective, when Stranger Things first premiered in July 2016, Millie Bobby Brown was just 12 years old, and now she’s married and a mom. That’s how long we’ve been stuck in Hawkins!

Anygays…along with the long-awaited trailer, Netflix also revealed the premiere dates for the show’s final season, and since we’ve all become pros at waiting, these dates shouldn’t surprise any of us. Volume 1 of Stranger Things Season 5 will arrive on November 26, Volume 2 will follow on December 25, and the Big Finale will drop on December 31. All three will premiere at 5 PM Pacific Time (Los Angeles), so make sure to check your local listings to see what time the portal opens in your region.

The new trailer throws us straight into chaos: Hawkins has become a war zone, torn apart by the aftermath of Vecna’s (Jamie Campbell Bower) attack. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), now in hiding and training for the ultimate showdown, prepares to face her most dangerous battle yet while the rest of the group struggles to reunite amid a crumbling world. We catch haunting glimpses: Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) caring for a comatose Max (Sadie Sink), Will (Noah Schnapp) once again caught in Vecna’s grasp, and the Upside Down spilling violently into reality.

Set to the soaring drama of Queen’s Who Wants to Live Forever, the trailer promises an emotional, action-packed finale where the stakes have never been higher, and where the bond between the Hawkins crew might be the only thing standing between their world and total destruction. Check out the trailer below and see for yourself:

As is tradition with Netflix, the streamer also dropped a batch of brand-new production stills alongside the trailer and release dates, teasing the fate of our favorite characters and giving us an up-close look at the dark, high-stakes world they now inhabit. Take a look at the first-look photos below:

Along with the new footage, the Stranger Things cast and creators shared some insights with Netflix’s Tudum on what to expect in this final chapter, and it’s clear that things are about to get intense. Millie Bobby Brown revealed that Eleven begins the season “in training mode,” describing her as being in a full “warrior state” for the first time, focused entirely on protecting her friends—her chosen family—at any cost. Gaten Matarazzo shared that Dustin isn’t in the best headspace either, admitting that “everyone’s in a bit of a funk” as Hawkins crumbles around them. The emotional weight of Season 4 still lingers, and as Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) put it, the stakes haven’t reset: “We haven’t defeated Vecna, and the problem is still there. Everyone is on edge, just trying to keep hope alive.”

Noah Schnapp confirmed that Will is back in Hawkins this season after spending Season 4 in California, saying that “everyone is all in one place and we all have the same objective.” Meanwhile, Sadie Sink reflected on Max’s heartbreaking state—still recovering after the brutal finale of last season—but promised there’s “a small glimmer of hope” her friends refuse to let go of. Finn Wolfhard noted that Mike has stepped back into leadership mode, helping plan missions and staying laser-focused on finding Vecna and ending this once and for all.

Behind the camera, the Duffer Brothers and executive producer Shawn Levy hinted that fans should brace for a faster, darker, and more emotional ride than ever before. Ross Duffer described Season 5 as “sprinting from the start,” breaking from the show’s usual rhythm of calm before the supernatural storm. Matt Duffer added that nothing in Hawkins is normal anymore, the town’s under surveillance, movement is restricted, and paranoia is at an all-time high. Yet amid all the chaos, Shawn Levy reassured fans that the series’ heart remains intact: “The action is next level, the visual effects are next level, but the emotional center remains the same. The magic of this show has always been anchored in these characters we love.”

After nearly a decade of Demogorgons, Dungeons & Dragons, and deeply emotional storytelling, it’s surreal to think that Stranger Things is finally coming to an end. But as we gear up for the big finale, there’s still time to rewatch all four seasons and relive every twist, scream, and tear before the ultimate showdown begins this November.

The end of the Upside Down era is near, and we’re so not ready.
