Ricky Martin’s Nephew Withdraws Allegations of Improper Relationship
Latin megastar Ricky Martin appeared in court today in Puerto Rico via zoom to face allegations made against him by his nephew that the pair had an improper romantic relationship. The nephew of Ricky Martin filed a protection order earlier in July that additionally accused the singer of stalking and harassing him.
According to reports filed in the Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Día, the judge dismissed the temporary restraining order today and the nephew of Ricky Martin decided to drop all charges and withdraw the allegations he made against his uncle.
The singer’s legal team promptly issued a statement as the hearing came to a close.
“Just as we had anticipated, the temporary protection order was not extended by the Court. The accuser confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure, and the accuser confirmed he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter.
“The request came from the accuser asking to dismiss the case. This was never anything more than a troubled individual making false allegations with absolutely nothing to substantiate them. We are glad that our client saw justice done and can now move forward with his life and his career.”
In the original protection order filed a couple of weeks ago, Martin’s nephew alleged that he had a romantic relationship with the pop star that spanned for approximately seven months in length. Martin’s nephew filed the protection order now because he “feared for his safety.”
The original order alleged that Martin and his nephew separated about two months ago, but that Martin was now stalking the individual, hanging around his residence and calling incessantly. Martin immediately issued a statement vehemently denying said allegations.
When the allegations were made public, Ricky Martin’s brother took to socials to categorically deny their truth. He stated that Martin’s nephew – the son of Martin’s half-sister – was suffering from severe mental health issues.
Ricky Martin married Syrian-born Swedish painter and artist Jwan Yosef in 2017. The couple has four children. Ricky Martin is currently promoting his new EP Play from which comes the single “A Veces Bien Y A Veces Mal.”
