Queer Eye Season 6: All Episodes Ranked

Ladies, gentlemen, others, and everyone, Queer Eye season 6 is here! We sat and binged all ten episodes in one sitting – because we are those kinds of queers – and we have to tell you, this might be our favorite season yet (read our review of the full season here). As we finished watching the last episode, the Q+ Magazine offices erupted into a discussion over which episode was the best, and why. It was an incredibly noisy affair that went on for far longer than it should have.

But here we are – we ranked the episodes!

Before diving into our compilation, we’d like to say that this might have been one of the hardest things we’ve done so far in these offices. The entire season is just so good and we argued over many different factors that played into our decisions. In the end, we decided to go with our feels and we ranked the episodes by just how much these fabulous people made our hearts explode. So buckle up folks, we’ve got your Queer Eye season 6 stacked and ready to go!

Queer Eye 6x03

10. “No More Bull” (6X03)

This episode was a bit hard to watch, but at the same time, it helped showcase why the Fab Five are where they are. They’re all such incredible humans and we swear they all possess the patience of saints! This episode follows Josh, a very republican dude who owns and operates his own beef ranch. From the get-go, it is easy to feel how uncomfortable he is with queer people, so the Fab Five’s first interactions with him are awkward, to say the least.

Enter five beautiful humans granted the gift of eternal patience! As the episode unfolds, the Fab Five stumble through their interactions with Josh with impeccable composure and tolerance, despite the awkwardness that emanates from him. Despite how difficult this can be to watch, Josh gets a pass this time because he dutifully mentioned that he wants to connect with others who come from different walks of life.

In this episode, all is not lost on Josh though. He learns from the Fab Five and grows exponentially as the episode unfolds. He embraces all of the changes suggested to him. As a result, Josh winds up experiencing quite an emotional and physical rebirth. We love that for him, and we love that for us!

Queer Eye 6x01

9. “Showdown at the Broken Spoke” (6X01)

There is no such thing as a bad Queer Eye episode. There are just episodes that are better than others. This is the case with episode 1. We aren’t going to lie, we did cry, but this season is so good that not even that was enough to rank this one higher up on the scale.

In this episode, the Fab Five help a woman named Terri White, whose family owns a honky tonk called the Broken Spoke. She’s 58, but refuses to live, dress and behave according to her age. Throughout her transformation process, we see the Fab Five really struggle with her refusal to accept any type of change or advice, from the clothes she wears to fixing her connection with her daughter; she doesn’t want any.

Terri has, perhaps, the biggest emotional transformation we see on the show this season, however, the episode shows that Terri is given the gift of time, and is able to work through her transformation over the period of an entire year, due to production shutting down over the Covid-19 lock-downs. Over the course of the year, Terri’s journey highlights the many struggles that everyone has been dealing with lately.

8. “A Night to Remember” (6X04)

The Fab Five go back to school to help the kids from the Navarro Early College High School’s prom committee to plan their graduation dance. It’s a fun, different, and eye-opening episode. This episode put us in our feels because, like 6X01, it reminded us of just how much people have struggled through the pandemic over the last two years.

Until very recently, the only conversations that were happening regarding schools during the pandemic in America was the “devastating learning loss” that resulted from home-schooling. However, this episode reminds everyone just how important the other aspects of school are for kids too.

The Fab Five helped these students navigate the preparations for their prom. They picked out outfits together, decorated their location, and engaged in pre-prom festivities that helped everyone get in the mood. This episode is great because the entire class gets attention from the Fab Five, and not just one single person. Their teacher, who nominated these incredible students, cried and you know we cried as many tears as Tan as well.

Queer Eye 6x10

7. “The Mis-Inspiration of Reggie Devore” (6X10)

This episode follows the story of Reggie, a rapper that goes by the stage name of Blacklight. Reggie’s career was just beginning to take off, and then the pandemic hit. He was opening concerts for artists like Katy Perry and Dua Lipa, but as folks moved into lockdowns and events were canceled all around the world, his dreams went crashing to the ground.

Well, lockdowns are over hunny, and things are moving for the entertainment industry again. Reggie’s wife realized it was time to get things moving again and enlisted the help of the Fab Five on his behalf. They give Reggie a makeover, which instantly helps Reggie reclaim his lost confidence. They arrange a photo shoot for him so that he has all the tools he needs to kick-start his career once again.

This episode is the last one of the season, and although a lot of people question why they chose this particular story to finish the season, we think it’s obvious why. Reggie’s story is incredibly feel-good and uplifting and is a great way to finish off a sad Covid story after the last two years the world has endured. Queer Eye is clearly saying it’s time for Reggie and the rest of the world to find inspiration again, to rise like a phoenix from the ashes, and grab life by the balls again.

Queer Eye 6x07

6. “Snow White of Central Texas” (6X07)

In this episode, we meet Jamie. Jamie is the real-life Snow White of Central Texas. No, really! She runs Safe in Austin, a nonprofit organization that benefits both special needs children and animals. As viewers, we learn really quickly that Jamie is a very sensitive person. She’s constantly bursting into tears because of simple acts of kindness, so naturally, she’s overwhelmed all the time.

The Fab Five not only give her a makeover and help her find some inner peace, but they also help her with her organization, building her a barn for all her 200+ animals. Yes, folks, Jamie has over 200 animals! She is that girl. This is definitely one of the hugest projects the Fab Five have undertaken so far. Super impressive work by Bobby!

At Q+ Magazine here, we love animals, so this alone placed this episode ranking higher than the four that came before it on our list. Animals are a surefire way to catch our attention and win over our hearts!

Queer Eye 6x09

5. “A Legend in the Baking” (6×09)

Throw your hands in the air if you love baked goods?! This episode is sweet, quite literally. This is our fifth favorite episode of the season for many reasons. We meet Sarah, the hero of this episode, who owns a bakery called OMG Squee. Sarah’s specialty product at the bakery is cutesy wootsy woo donuts and to-die-for macaroons.

Sarah is an Asian-American woman whose life has been completely impacted by the pandemic. She opened her business a week before the world shut down and has suffered greatly from all the xenophobia that swept through the United States since the pandemic began.

The Fab Five took it upon themselves to help her save her business, because yes, of course, they did! They re-vamped Sarah’s business image as a starting point, but they took their makeover one step further and helped her connect with other Asian-owned businesses in the Austin area. Building a community to overcome the blatant racism Austin (and the United States) is currently experiencing regarding the pandemic features heavily in Sarah’s transition.

We loved this episode because it’s important. ‘nuff said. Well done, Queer Eye!

4. “Gimme Shelter” (6X08)

Our fourth fave episode this season follows a lovely dude called Chris. Chris is quite a treasure and runs a national nonprofit organization, The Other One Foundation, that aims to help the homeless. Chris has been going through it lately. He recently had bypass surgery and is in the process of mass weight loss. Despite his own very intense personal journey, the man has selflessly ensured that homeless people have a chance at a better life.

We love this episode for many reasons. Chris’ selflessness is worthy of all the public attention, and his nonprofit is literally saving lives. Hilariously though, one of our favorite things about this episode is that Chris knows absolutely nothing about the Fab Five or the Queer Eye show.

When we say nothing, we literally mean nothing. ZIlch. Squat. Diddly do, nada! Chris spends most of the episode not understanding a single thing about what is happening. The innocence of the whole situation had us cooing and giggling all the way through. And Chris embraces his Fab Five transformation completely, because yes, of course, he does. This guy is just amazing.

3. “Craw Zaddy” (6X05)

Where to start with this episode? There’s a reason why it’s in our top three (and probably in our top 5 of all-time Queer Eye episodes). In this episode, we meet Todd, a 67-year-old sweet man who has a hard time learning how to let go. He lost his wife unexpectedly in 2011 and after all these years is still struggling with grief.

Todd owns a restaurant, Plooky’s, and is trying to hand the reins over to his daughter. As the episode unfolds, Todd is struggling to let go physically of the business, but also emotionally. Enter the Fab Five, who come in guns blazing with their big hearts and their bags of empathy, and lawd. SEND HELP.

The Fab Five walk Todd through everything and the poor man is defenseless against the gaggle of queers that come to his aid. It’s heartbreaking and funny all at the same time. This episode does an outstanding job of reminding us exactly what our inner humanity is.

A particular fave moment crossed our screens when Karamo took it upon himself to educate Todd on what the word ‘Zaddy’ means. If you don’t laugh and cry your way through this episode, we’ll eat our left sock!

2. “Community Allied” (6X06)

Are you sitting down? You should be sitting down. You might need a blanket, maybe some tissues. Definitely an emotional support human and/or animal. Despite the fact that COVID-19 has been woven into several of the stories this season, we’re unofficially calling this episode the “Covid” episode.

It’s no secret that some communities across America (and the world) struggled to get access to resources during the pandemic. Enter Dr. Jereka, another incredible human who opened a vaccination and testing clinic in Austin. The point of the clinic was to ensure that members of the community that couldn’t otherwise access these important resources, had the care they needed.

Dr. Jereka epitomizes the incredible stories of the brave healthcare workers who left their houses every single day during the height of the pandemic to ensure every day that people had access to the care they needed.

We quietly sobbed throughout this entire episode as we watched the Fab Five pamper this incredible woman and finally give her the time, attention, and care she so well deserved. This episode reminded us that, despite what society might be enduring right now, good people do exist and they are everywhere!

1. “Angel Gets Her Wings” (6X02)

Okay folks, let’s roll out the red carpet for episode 6X02 – without a doubt the absolute best episode of the entire season. Yes, it made us cry (we did a lot of that this season, huh?) but mostly we loved this episode because of all the very important conversations that occurred all the way through.

Here we meet Angel, a transgender woman who is definitely struggling to find themself and their place in their new body. Angel is a professional power-lifter and power-lifting coach, which clearly has some pretty significant implications for her body. Angel shares with the Fab Five that she struggles to find comfort in her body when she isn’t in the gym.

To help her, the Fab Five not only give her a new haircut and makeup routine to make her feel feminine and confident, but they also give her some useful tools that aid in overcoming the panic attacks Angel experiences shopping in the women’s section.

If you don’t blubber like a baby when Angel stands in front of a mirror, exuding happiness, comfort, and newfound sexiness in her Tan-selected outfits, then are you even human? Crying hours were also instituted when Karamo arranged a meeting with Angel’s father (don’t worry folks, he had her permission!).

Angel’s relationship with her father fell into complete ruination after her coming out, and this scene between the two of them absolutely WRECKED us. Watching Angel and her dad attempt to understand each other and sort out their relationship was an unexpected cherry on top of the cake!

Clearly, we absolutely loved this season of Queer Eye and we can’t wait to see what the Fab Five get up to next. Queer Eye Season 6 is available to stream on Netflix now. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram for all queer stuff!
