Our Lady J Releases New Single ‘Future Of Us’
After a decade-long break from the music industry, Our Lady J is back with a new single, The Future Of Us. Lately, she’s been working as a producer and a writer on shows such as Transparent and Pose, but the talented musician is back alongside the sweeping vocals from the New York City Gay Men’s Choir with a new classical song that will leave you mesmerized.
The composition is a meditation on the aftermath of societal chaos, and the responsibility that artists have to steer folks back towards creation. Our Lady J says, “The song paints a portrait of a world-worn from mounting anxieties, building towards a revelation that calls for a return to love.”
The recording of the song, written and performed by Our Lady J herself, was inspired by the artist’s personal journey through healing from the isolation of the pandemic, after which, she attended dozens of symphonic concerts to find community with other creatives and like-minded artists. During this period of inspiration, Our Lady J says, “Concert-going reconnected me with my roots as a collaborative musician and chamber pianist. I resumed my formal studies in classical piano at the Colburn School in Downtown Los Angeles and I fell back in love with the healing power of classical music.”
The Future Of Us is a traffic-stopping haunting piece that will leave you wanting more and looking for the repeat button.
Before Lady J’s career in television, she toured the world performing as a singer/songwriter, as well as a collaborative pianist and musical director for pop, theater, and classical music. She has received two Peabody Awards, three American Film Institute awards, three Writers Guild Award nominations, and two NAACP Image Award nominations.
