Laverne Cox Leads the Way in ‘Clean Slate’: Watch the Trailer Now!

Since Prime Video announced back in December last year that Clean Slate would be premiering on its platform on February 6, 2025, we’ve been eagerly waiting for the trailer to drop. And it’s finally happened! Starring four-time Emmy®-nominated actress Laverne Cox and legendary comedian George Wallace, Clean Slate promises to be the heartwarming comedy series we’ve been craving.

From the iconic Norman Lear, the show follows Harry Slate (played by Wallace), an old-school Alabama car wash owner whose world is turned upside down when his estranged child, whom he once knew as a son, returns home as a proud trans woman named Desiree (played by Cox).

As Desiree works to repair her fraught relationship with her father, the duo navigates the complexities of their new dynamic while becoming unlikely roommates. Together, they tackle all the hilarious and heartfelt coming-of-age moments they missed out on the first time around. Adding to the mix is Harry’s right-hand man, Mack (Jay Wilkison), who develops a growing affection for Desiree. Their budding relationship unfolds across the series, offering plenty of laughs and tender moments.

But Desiree’s return doesn’t just affect Harry. Her homecoming shakes up the local church, challenges her closeted best friend and choir director Louis (D.K. Uzoukwu) to embrace his truth, and creates friction in their friendship. Meanwhile, Louis’s mother, Ella (Telma Hopkins), and Harry find themselves exploring a surprising connection of their own.

As if that weren’t enough, Harry faces off against his feisty neighbor Miguel (Philip Garcia), while Desiree builds a sweet bond with Mack’s enterprising daughter, Opal (Norah Murphy), who dreams of breaking out of Mobile just like Desiree once did. Though Desiree initially thought her return home would be temporary, she soon discovers that Mobile might just have a place for her after all.

The trailer gives us a glimpse into this delightful and heartfelt story. In just two minutes, we see the hilarious and heartwarming dynamics between Harry and Desiree, as well as how her arrival turns the town of Mobile upside down.
