Jeangu Macrooy Reminds Us That ‘Everybody Needs Somebody’ — And We’re Listening

One such artist is Jeangu Macrooy, the soul/pop powerhouse who represented the Netherlands in 2021 with Birth of a New Age, a bold and moving anthem written in response to the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement. Everybody Needs Somebody was written by J.A.U. Macrooy, with vocals and acoustic guitar by Jeangu Macrooy. All other instruments were played by Jasper Zuidervaart, who also produced, recorded, and mixed the track at Studio Zuidervaart. The song was mastered by Jeffrey de Gans at Da Goose Mastering. The music video is a film by Rauwkost Film, directed by Guido F. G. Jeurissen with Daan de Graaff as director of photography.
Born and raised in Suriname, Jeangu Macrooy moved to the Netherlands in 2014 and has been blazing his own trail ever since.
