Heartstopper Volume 6 Arrives July 2026 as We Prepare to Say Goodbye
It’s almost time to say goodbye to the Heartstopper universe, both on paper and on screen. While we’re still waiting for updates about the movie Heartstopper Forever, creator and writer Alice Oseman just shared some bittersweet news: the final installment of the beloved graphic novel series the show is based on, Heartstopper Volume 6, will be released on July 2, 2026.
For those of us who’ve been following Nick and Charlie’s journey from the very beginning, this announcement feels both exciting and emotional. Oseman has been posting regular updates of the story for free on Tumblr and Tapas, while advanced chapters have been available on their Patreon. But next summer, the fully published version of Heartstopper Volume 6 will arrive, officially closing the chapter on this groundbreaking queer love story.
Along with the announcement, Oseman wrote: “Heartstopper Volume 6 will be released on the 2nd July 2026. Almost time to say goodbye to Heartstopper… still drawing it right now and having a great time!!! But I will be very sad when it’s over!!”
Luckily, fans won’t have to wait to secure their copy, pre-orders for Heartstopper Volume 6 are already open in the UK, USA, and Canada
It’s hard to overstate just how much of an impact Heartstopper has had since it first started as a humble webcomic back in 2016, when Oseman began posting updates on Tumblr. Its heartfelt depiction of queer love, friendship, and self-discovery quickly resonated with readers worldwide. Then came the big leap to television: after See-Saw Films acquired the rights in 2019, Netflix officially greenlit the project in January 2021. The eight-episode first season—written by Oseman and starring Kit Connor and Joe Locke as Nick and Charlie—premiered on April 22, 2022, and instantly became a cultural touchstone for LGBTQ+ audiences.
Now, the story is heading toward its cinematic conclusion as well. What was once set to be a final Season 4 has been transformed into a movie, Heartstopper Forever, which will adapt the events of Heartstopper Volume 6. Oseman has teased that while the film will follow the graphic novel’s ending, there will be some differences: “There is a point in the movie where we slightly diverge from Volume 6 and it takes a slightly different path to get to the ending. So even once you read Volume 6, there will still be quite a few surprises in the movie waiting for you.”
So yes, come next year, it really will be time to say goodbye to Heartstopper in every form. We can’t wait to see how Heartstopper Volume 6 ties everything together for Nick, Charlie, and the rest of the gang.
