Heartstopper Season 3 is officially in production!

Exciting news, fam! Following the success of its second season earlier this summer, Netflix has officially confirmed that Heartstopper is gearing up for its long-awaited third season, as production has finally begun. And although we don’t have an exact release date for the new season yet, it will likely hit our screens in the summer or fall of 2024.

The announcement, shared across Netflix’s official social media accounts on October 2, has fans buzzing with excitement as the Season 2 finale left Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) standing on the precipice of saying “I love you” for the first time.

But what can we expect from this new season? For fans who have already delved into the fourth volume of the Heartstopper graphic novel, you may have an idea of what’s in store for all your favorite characters. The TV show has faithfully followed the source material thus far, so we can only wait and see how Alice Oseman’s storytelling translates to the small screen in this next installment.

One perhaps not-so-surprising tidbit we do have about this third season is the title of the first episode, as revealed by Netflix a couple of weeks ago. This will be aptly named “Love,” echoing the title of the graphic novel’s fifth chapter. And while its meaning is evidently clear and even more so with the Season 2 finale, it still makes our hearts skip a beat with anticipation.

Love has always been at the core of Nick and Charlie’s wonderful journey, and we can’t wait to see how it unfolds in this upcoming season.

As for the cast, while official details remain under wraps, we can safely assume that most of our beloved cast members will return to reprise their roles. The one exception appears to be Sebastian Croft, who revealed after the release of Season 2 that his character, Ben, wouldn’t be returning for Season 3.

Both Oseman and Croft agreed that Ben’s character wasn’t going to get a on-screen redemption arc, so while Ben could become a better person in the future, this transformation won’t take place on the show. Oseman told Tudum back in August that, “Ben can become a better person, but Charlie should not have to witness that, endorse it, or offer any forgiveness. And so he won’t.”

So officially, Croft is the only cast member who will not return for the new season. But stay tuned for more updates as we eagerly await the return of this beloved show!

Let’s all get ready to fall in love all over again as Heartstopper Season 3 embarks on its production journey. With the promise of friendship and lots of love, we’re counting down the days until we can join Nick and Charlie on their next adventure together.
