First Kill: Netflix’s new sapphic teen vampire production

Yesterday, Netflix dropped the first promotional images of its upcoming show First Kill. Netflix, fam, you have our attention! Based on a YA vampire series from New York Times bestselling author Victoria V.E Schwab, First Kill is definitely one for the ladies.

We don’t know much yet, but this production is giving us heavy Buffy the Vampire Slayer vibes – but make it gaaaayyyy. Juliette (Sarah Catherine Hook) is an adolescent vampire who is gearing up to make her first kill. She comes from a very powerful vampire family and this seems to be a big deal for Juliette.

Juliette sets her sights on Calliope (Imani Lewis) – the new girl in town (no one will miss her if she disappears, right?). Little does Juliette know, though, that she has made quite the mistake indeed. Calliope is actually a vampire hunter from an equally prestigious family of slayers. A vampire falls in love with a slayer, the slayer reciprocates and, look – we have a recipe for fantasy teen angst that everyone absolutely loves.

Like we said, Netflix, fam, you have our attention.

First Kill showcases some raw, new, and very promising talent that we’re expecting big things from. Netflix seems super jazzed about the fact that they’re releasing a lesbian vampire show, and they seem even more excited about the casting choices.

With eight sixty-minute episodes and one hell of a gripping teaser poster, we’re officially marking our calendars for June 10th to check out what all the hubbub is about.
