Drag Race Star Jiggly Caliente Dies Following Health Complications

The world of Drag Race is heavy with sadness today as we share the heartbreaking news that Jiggly Caliente (Bianca Castro), beloved star of RuPaul’s Drag Race and judge on Drag Race Philippines, has passed away at the age of 44.

Jiggly had been battling complications from a severe infection, which led to surgery and the amputation of most of her right leg. Despite her strength and resilience, she passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025. Her family confirmed the news with a touching statement shared on her Instagram account:

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Bianca Castro-Arabejo, known to the world and cherished by many as Jiggly Caliente. Bianca passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, at 4:42 am, surrounded by her loving family and close friends.

A luminous presence in the worlds of entertainment and advocacy, Jiggly Caliente was celebrated for her infectious energy, fierce wit, and unwavering authenticity. She touched countless lives through her artistry, activism, and the genuine connection she fostered with fans around the world. Her legacy is one of love, courage, and light. Though her physical presence is gone, the joy she shared and the space she helped create for so many will remain forever. She will be deeply missed, always loved, and eternally remembered.”

For so many of us in the LGBTQ+ community, Jiggly was a beacon of authenticity and pride. She first stole our hearts in Season 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, where her humor, vulnerability, and strength stood out. She returned for All Stars 6, once again reminding us of her indomitable spirit. In 2022, Jiggly took her seat at the judges’ table for Drag Race Philippines, helping to guide and inspire the next generation of Filipino queens across three seasons.

Born in San Pedro, Philippines, and later making her home in the United States, Jiggly embodied the spirit of resilience and joy. Her drag name, inspired by the Pokémon character Jigglypuff, captured her playful yet powerful essence perfectly. In 2016, she publicly came out as transgender, further cementing her role as a trailblazer and advocate for our community.

Beyond Drag Race, she showcased her talents as an actress in shows like Pose, Search Party, and even Saturday Night Live. She also blessed us with her debut hip-hop album, T.H.O.T. Process, in 2018, featuring appearances from Drag Raceroyalty including RuPaul, Peppermint, Alaska, and Manila Luzon.

Jiggly Caliente’s impact on the world of drag, television, music, and LGBTQ+ advocacy is immeasurable. She made space for so many of us to feel seen, celebrated, and loved. Our hearts go out to her family, friends, her Drag Race family, and the countless fans around the world mourning her loss. We’re sending love, light, and strength to everyone grieving this incredible loss. Rest in power, Jiggly — your light will never be forgotten.
