Destination: The Irrepressibles’ New Indie-Pop Single About Longing for Love

With Yo Homo! dropping this Friday, Jamie Irrepressible has released the album’s fifth single, Destination. Accompanied by a unique music video, the track is sure to leave you ready for the album’s full release. Set against a groovy 60s soundscape with modern beats and a grand orchestral finale, Destination is a joyous indie-pop anthem about navigating hook-up culture while yearning for deeper, more meaningful love.

The track follows the story of a man stuck in a loop of one-night stands but longing for something more. In lines like “Will you come and give my love a destination?” and “Oh Mr, these days love don’t seem so clever,” Jamie nails the theme of yearning for deeper connection, culminating in a hopeful plea for love as “some big adventure we could try.”

The video, directed by Jack Willoughby and produced by Liam Wallace-Cook of Blend Films, is as quirky as the track. It features a melancholy muscle man (who looks like he’s made of latex!) heading to a tropical aquarium to find his beloved pet fish a partner, only to impress a crush with an optimistic mating dance. As Willoughby explains, “Romance seems to happen in the most unlikely of places.”

Destination is the fifth single from Yo Homo! and follows on the heels of hits like Will You?, Ecstasy Homosexuality, and the title track, all of which have already garnered praise from music icons and magazines alike. As we wait for Friday’s full album release, we’ll definitely have Destination on repeat!
