Cuckoo: A Sneak Peak At The Horror Film

Written and directed by Tilman Singer, Cuckoo is a 2024 horror film starring Hunter Schafer, Dan Stevens, and Jessica Henwick. It premiered at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival in February of 2024 and is slated for release in Germany in July, with a later release in cinemas in the United States during August.

It’s the story of Gretchen, who reluctantly leaves her home in America to live with her father, who has just moved to the German Alps to live in a resort there with his new family. When they arrive, they’re greeted by Mr. König – her father’s boss – who takes a liking to Gretchen’s mute half-sister Alma. Gretchen immediately feels unsettled by the whole thing.

Despite the tranquil setting, often referred to as paradise, Gretchen is plagued constantly by strange noises and bloody visions until she discovers a shocking secret that concerns her own family.

Hailed as atmospheric and visually outstanding, this horror film was shot on a 35mm and includes many perfidious twists and turns. Starring Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer and the very terrifying Dan Stevens, Cuckoo is set to be a winner!

In 2019, Hunter Schafer was cast in Euphoria as transgender high school student, Jules Vaughn, marking her acting debut. Trans herself in real life, she joined the show after responding to a casting call on Instagram for trans actresses, which required no previous acting experience. Schafer went on to become a Euphoria cast favorite and looks to deliver another stellar performance with her role in Cuckoo

Born in Leipzig, Germany Tilman Singer graduated from the famed Academy of Media Arts Cologne. He has directed several short films, commercials, and music videos. His debut feature film Luz was a festival sensation and received unanimous praise from the trades. He currently lives and works in Berlin.
