Celebrate Lesbian Visibility Week with These 5 Films That Slay (Sometimes Literally)
It’s Lesbian Visibility Week, and of course, we had to celebrate the only way we know how—by watching sapphics fall in love, get messy, start fight clubs, kiss in bathrooms, and maybe commit a little crime. We’ve put together a list of five lesbian films that are perfect for this week of visibility and celebration. From sweet coming-of-age chaos to violent gym love affairs (yes, really), we’re serving up a little something for everyone.
In this lineup, we’ve got two besties on a wild high school bender, a 30-something figuring out she might be gay right now actually, a queer fight club that absolutely no one asked for but everyone needed, a chaotic crime comedy road trip, and a romance so intense it might leave a body count. Whatever your vibe is this Lesbian Visibility Week, we’ve got you.

Booksmart (2019)
Directed by Olivia Wilde, this coming-of-age comedy follows overachieving best friends Molly (Beanie Feldstein) and Amy (Kaitlyn Dever) as they attempt to cram four years of missed high school partying into one night before graduation. Cue the bad decisions: drugged strawberries, a murder mystery party, and yes—Amy finally kissing her mysterious classmate Hope (Diana Silvers) in a bathroom (as one does). It’s funny, heartfelt, and just the right amount of chaotic lesbian energy.
Where to watch? Prime Video and Netflix, depending on the region.
Am I Ok? (2022)
Lucy (Dakota Johnson) is 32, working at a spa, and just realized she might be gay. Better late than never! With her best friend moving away and her feelings for women bubbling to the surface, Lucy dives headfirst into her queer awakening—with the help (and sometimes interference) of a very cute massage therapist. It’s tender, awkward, funny, and basically the lesbian soft-launch of the decade.
Where to watch? Max and Prime Video, depending on the region.
Bottoms (2023)
What happens when two horny queer teens start a fake fight club to hook up with cheerleaders? Absolute mayhem. Bottoms is absurd, hilarious, and aggressively gay, in the best way. It’s packed with blood, sweat, tears, and an impressively large amount of sexual tension. Bonus points for Ayo Edebiri and Rachel Sennott’s unhinged chemistry and some deeply iconic slow-motion punches.
Where to watch? Max, Prime Video, and Apple TV, depending on the region.
Drive-Away Dolls (2024)
Heartbreak? Let’s fix that with a spontaneous road trip and a maybe-stolen car full of something definitely illegal. Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan play messy besties who accidentally land in the middle of a criminal operation and respond with queer chaos and unexpected badassery. It’s camp, it’s crime, it’s lesbian Florida mayhem. What more could we ask for?
Where to watch? Max, Prime Video, and Apple TV, depending on the region.
Love Lies Bleeding (2024)
Kristen Stewart plus muscles plus murder? Say less. This twisted romantic thriller pairs gym manager Lou (Stewart) with musclebound drifter Jackie (Katy M. O’Brian) in a love story that turns deadly real fast. Between the smoldering chemistry and the trail of destruction they leave behind, this is a film that says “ride or die” and actually means it. It’s hot, it’s intense, and it’s everything your little gay heart desires.
Where to watch? Max and Prime Video, depending on the region.
And there you have it, five lesbian films to stream, rewatch, and obsess over this Lesbian Visibility Week. Whether you’re in the mood to laugh, cry, or cheer on a queer crime spree, there’s something here for you. Happy watching, and most importantly, happy Lesbian Visibility Week!
