Amazon’s Red, White, & Royal Blue will premiere in August!
It’s happening, y’all! We finally have a release date for Amazon’s long-awaited adaptation of author Casey McQuiston’s New York Times best-selling book Red, White, & Royal Blue. Can you believe it? After months of waiting for any news regarding this rom-com, we can finally confirm that Alex (Taylor Zakhar Perez) and Henry’s (Nicholas Galitzine) love story will be premiering exclusively on Prime Video on August 11, 2023.
Yep, you read that right, Red, White, & Royal Blue is coming to all of us this fall! Can you hear us screaming? Because we definitely are!
Accompanied by a tagline that reads “Love gets royally complicated,” Amazon also shared the official teaser poster of the film, which shows two elegantly dressed people with their legs crossed and wearing statement socks displaying the flags of the United Kingdom and the United States. And honestly? We are obsessed already!
The official synopsis for the film reads, “Alex Claremont-Diaz, the son of the President of the United States (Uma Thurman), and Britain’s Prince Henry have a lot in common: Stunning good looks, undeniable charisma, international popularity … and a total disdain for each other.
“Separated by an ocean, their long-running feud hasn’t really been an issue, until a disastrous—and very public—altercation at a royal event becomes tabloid fodder, driving a potential wedge in U.S./British relations at the worst possible time.
“Going into damage-control mode, their families and handlers force the two rivals into a staged ‘truce.’ But as Alex and Henry’s icy relationship unexpectedly begins to thaw into a tentative friendship, the friction that existed between them sparks something deeper than they ever expected.”
Written and directed by Tony Award-winning playwright Matthew López (The Inheritance), Amazon’s Red, White, & Royal Blue will feature, besides Zakhar Perez, Galitzine, and Thurman, Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Stephen Fry, Ellie Bamber, Thomas Flynn, Malcolm Atobrah, Akshay Khanna, Sharon D. Clarke, Aneesh Sheth, Juan Castano, and Polo Morín.
