Ricky Martin’s new song and music video: A Veces Bien y A Veces Mal
It’s time to celebrate queers, Ricky Martin has a new song and a new smash music video to go with it! On April 14, the song titled A Veces Bien y A Veces Mal (which translates to Sometimes Good and Sometimes Bad in English) smashed onto the charts. This time, Martin is collaborating with the Mexican band Reik.
In this collab, both (Ricky and Reik) go back to their pop/ballad roots. Formed in 2003, Reik’s first five albums were classified as Latin Pop, but have since transitioned to a more urban sound of late. Both artists throwing back to their pop roots has us preening with excitement.
A Veces Bien y A Veces Mal is a very emotional song that reflects on the vulnerability of a heart that resists having to accept the reality of a breakup. And we’re happy to report that it’s also a gender-neutral song, it’s meant to be sung for the person you loved and lost regardless of their gender.
As if we weren’t enthralled enough with all that, the music video for the song features Ángela Ponce – the first transgender woman to be crowned Miss Spain! At a time when the world seems to be doing everything it can to go after our trans community, Ricky Martin throwing them front and center is doing good things to our insides.
Martin said he included Ponce in the video because she is “a symbol of success, equality and the work she has done on behalf of our community around the world has been extremely important. A song as beautiful as this should have a beautiful woman like her as a model,” said Martin.
Lead vocalist of Reik, Jesus Navarro, said that “Ricky is one of the most complete and enormous artists in terms of talent and range.” Navarro said that he has always been a Martin fan and being able to collaborate with him on something like this is very special to Reik.

Letra
Lyrics
Van diez noches sin hablar
Ya no aguanto esta ciudad
Si tú no estás
Por más que intenté escapar
Regresé al mismo lugar
Y tú no estás
It’s been ten nights without talking
I can’t stand this city anymore
If you’re not in it
As much as I tried to escape
I came back to the same place
And you’re not here
De tantas cosas me arrepiento
Me haces falta y no te miento
Que fácil fue quererte y que difícil olvidar
I regret many things
I miss you and I’m not lying
How easy was to love you and how hard is to forget you
¿Cómo te va?
¿Con quién estás?
Si alguien pregunta
Vivo aquí esperando regresar
A veces bien
Y a veces mal
No sé si a ti también te pasa igual
How are you doing?
Who are you with?
If someone asks
I live here waiting to go back
Sometimes good
And sometimes bad
I don’t know if the same thing happens to you
Le faltan piezas al rompecabezas
Ha sido duro mi amor
Como pesan las fotos que siguen adornando mi mesa
Pieces are missing to the puzzle
It’s been hard, my love
How heavy [painful] are the pictures that continue to decorate my table
Ay, como duele
Ay, como duele cuando un hombre pierde lo que quiere
Dime, por favor, que nuestro amor no murió
Que fácil fue quererte y que no daría por verte una vez más
Oh, how it hurts
Oh, how it hurts when a man loses what he loves
Tell me, please, that our love didn’t die
How easy was to love you and how hard is to forget you
¿Cómo te va?
¿Con quién estás?
Si alguien pregunta
Vivo aquí esperando regresar
A veces bien
Y a veces mal
No sé si a ti también te pasa igual
How are you doing?
Who are you with?
If someone asks
I live here waiting to go back
Sometimes good
And sometimes bad
I don’t know if the same thing happens to you
Oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh
Yo sé que a ti también te pasa igual
Van diez noches sin hablar
A veces bien y a veces mal
Oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh
I know that the same thing happens to you
It’s been ten nights without talking
Sometimes good and sometimes bad
