9-1-1 Lone Star: We still know nothing about “Tarlos”

The good folks at 9-1-1 Lone Star had a very short airing hiatus over the last two weeks. While it allowed us to catch our breath and process the bombshells fired off by the season’s return, we were definitely eagerly awaiting this week’s episode. We watched (duh), we yelled on social media (also duh), we processed for a hot minute, and now we think we need to talk about T.K. and Carlos.

Look 9-1-1 Lone Star we have many questions about our favorite neighborhood gays that you have not attempted to answer yet!

A lot happened in this episode and at the same time, not much at all. So what on Earth does this mean? Here is our review of season 3 episode 3. Oh, and if you missed our 3X01-3X02 review, you can find it here.

9-1-1 Lone Star 3X03 “Shock & Thaw” episode recap

When the episode opens, T.K. is lying unconscious/comatose in the hospital clearly experiencing some kind of otherworldly out-of-body experience with his mom in his subconscious. It’s cute, it really is, but it didn’t tell us anything that we didn’t already know: we love T.K. and if you let him die, riots will occur.

Carlos is sitting with an unconscious T.K. in the hospital when he crashes and then he is ushered out of the room so the medical staff can work on him. Things do not look good for our man.

The good news though, Paul is okay! While still in a hospital bed, he is awake and well, being showered with gifts and gratitude from the parents of the girl he rescued. As he should be.

Marjan watches a cop shoot a dude out in the snow in cold blood. The cop knows that Marjan sees him and takes off after her. Of course, the cop in question has a bigger role to play and ends up being an undercover operative for the cartel which is currently trying to ruin Owen’s life.

Owen’s life and all the people he is trying to save are now in danger, but never fear – Marjan is here! Like the badass that she is, she swoops in, blows some stuff up, and then all is right in the world once again.

Let’s talk about the gays

Okay, so real talk: how is it possible that we are at the end of episode 3 and we still have absolutely no idea what happened to T.K. and Carlos? We understand the idea of drama and suspense and all that, but this is just rude

At the end of season 2, “Tarlos” fans were all pretty darn sure that we would see season 3 open with a proposal or at least domestic bliss. After everything they’ve been through, it’s what they deserve. It’s what we deserve

But here we are, 3 episodes deep and no one knows what happened. Season 3 opened with them very much broken up, and not speaking to each other, with no one providing even a hint of an explanation for what went wrong in the off-season.

Now T.K. is in the hospital fighting for his life, which actually would have been the perfect place for them to let fans know what caused the breakdown of their relationship, but T.K. is hanging out with his mom in his subconscious, and Carlos is given next to no screen time at all.

9-1-1 Lone Star, throw the gays a bone why don’t you? The fan base is staunchly loyal and we are here, but lawd you are giving us an ulcer right now. This episode would have been an outstanding moment for Carlos to shine in all his glory. Instead, the man was completely sidelined and writers chose to give the majority of the screen time to Owen and his cartel issue *inserts eye roll here*.

Please! It’s time. Give the gays their day in the sun!

Carlos (3x04)

Looking forward

Look, we watched the promo for episode 4 and we read all the things we could about the rumors and spoilers for the next episode. We know at least some information is coming. Why did they make us wait so long though?

The overused storyline about the cartel was unnecessary. That time could have been spent unpacking the “Tarlos” situation for the eagerly awaiting fandom. We’re just saying, was the sidelining of the gays for three entire episodes really necessary?

We think not.

Nevertheless, we will be watching next week to get the tea. We must know what happened to our boys.
